Last day for PA extended season PA WMU 5C tomorrow. Snow and a low of 3 degrees. Like a dumbass I bet I’m to stupid and go out. My wife thinks I have a real problem. Any of you guys get that? Thank God I come back with game once and awhile or she would think there’s another woman!
The “You have a real issue” line doesn’t really come from mine until turkey season gets here. Last year I got, “If you flirted with me as much as you flirt with a bunch of turkeys you might get some every now and then”. I actually thought that was clever so I had to laugh ha.
Many of my hunting buddies have serious gf’s and wives. Women get jealous as hell that men are so passionate about hunting. I know some of them are really annoyed by the, No women in hunt camp rules. However, the rule stands for a reason.

One guy got 10 voice mails and 30 txts from his gf on a day hunting trip. lol

She also used the line, “While you are out there hunting these turkeys I want you to think about something that holds as true for you as it does for them, If you go around chasing every female that tries to get your attention, eventually you get your head blown off.” haha
Now that’s funny!

Sen the Fourth and me.

Hey…not sure if this has been discussed, but do you guys process your own deer, or take them to a pro? I’ve been processing them myself, but finding as I get older that it’s more of a pain in the ass then I like.

Process them myself, unless I want sausage or something like that. Been pondering learning to do that too but will have to see.

Was that one nursing when you shot it?

I have always done my own.

That’s the best kind. Pre-tenderized. Ha

It was getting dark…

Follow up question…how do you guys butcher the harvest and what do you do with it?

I use the forelegs to grind up, tenderloin and backstraps get grilled or fried for about 90 seconds per side and the back legs get cut into roasts.

My buddy just got a komodo joe and he put one of the back legs of the baby I took and smoked the entire leg for about 5 hours and said it was phenomenal.

Will make steaks out of the hind quarters if a younger deer. If not I will cut the hind quarter into pieces or roasts. Backstraps will either cut into pieces for frying or left whole for grilling. Front quarter is usually ruined on my deer unless its a bow as I shoot for the shoulder bone. Get the heart and lungs plus take out the running gear makes them easier to track. If its alright I will use it for stew meat, dog treats, or to grind, neck gets the same treatment.

I did a lot more sleeping in my stand than I should of and my ADHD did a good job of getting me up and out of it pretty fast so I normally would end up pushing to people. My mom is dead eye. Natural. Didn’t touch a gun until she was 32 and has hunted every season for 20 years (21 this year) and has gotten at least one a year and never missed a shot. I don’t get it. It makes it hard to give her shit. But it means I always have dear to eat

Awesome story with this picture

Went on a Teal hunt. That afternoon we were out shooting some pistols at targets, then went and rode the fence line. Taking trees off the fence etc., you know fucking around in a ATV.

Suddenly we jump two hogs, so the client (friend of mine) is driving and he has had a few libations. He guns it and we are going about 30-35 mph and yells out to me and the big guy with me to start shooting. So me and Trio are hanging out the side of this ATV with 9 mm’s blasting away at these two hogs.

Fucking awesome fun no doubt.

Women are better long distance shooters than men. Better small muscle control.

Some of the most effective snipers have been women for this reason. The smaller size helps, too, as they can crawl into little spots men would never think about.

It was a good day grouse hunting. I am liking my Red Label very much. Can’t wait to shoot some pheasants with it.

Elk camp is up. Only four more days till the start of the season.

I love hunting myself. Still got an Eastern Plains Colorado deer tag to fill. Heading out for hunt tomorrow!

Just got my new Excalibur Matrix 380 (260lb draw, 380 fps)

Gonna dial it in over the next week and head to a friend’s farm. He has a black bear problem he wanted some help with (and a shit ton of deer). I’ll post pics if I am successful.

You still in VA? Let me know if your friend ever needs any help from up North here in Maryland.
