Whine, whine, whine. If you have such a problem with the topics being discussed why don’t you start some that you want to participate in rather than whine about what others want to talk about. Or is it that you’re jealous that you’ve never been a PI? I’ve seen this argument on this site before and its always the same people complaining but yet I never see them try to change things. If you want changes than make them your self and don’t wait for others to do it.
Why bother with trying to change a section that is choc full of people that no one should be emulating if they want to have a long, healthy life?
MWA was created to bring more females in, and sell more stuff. Kudos to the brain trust here - I m sure their bottom line is screaming success.
I figure I have spent enough money with Biotest to give me the right to bitch about things that suck. And MWA sucks. Putting anorexic, fake-boobed, non-muscled females up as powerful images sucks as well.
If the MWA helps you, that’s great. I just don’t see why you can’t get the same level of help from Oprah.com and leave the testosterone loving, “muscle is a good thing” crowd alone.

What are you smokin buddy? The only things we glorify here are big weights, steak and eggs, alcohol and pussy
Why the hell would someone even remotely think that it has to do with jealousy? To me, as a woman, I would like to see a separate section for female power and strength athletes. That’s all.
This has been suggested many times by several of us. The answer to that question always is, “The Muscle Sorority Thread is for that.”
But I think the real answer lies in my first post in this thread. After all, how many female strength athletes HAVE been featured as the PI, as compared to the figure girls? Just look in the archives for your answer.

Extreme dieting and fake tans goe hand in hand w/ bodybuilding.
Don’t get bent out of shape over things you are not interested in. There are plenty of people that still focus on strength, health and athleticism.
But there is no place for women interested in such things to congregate. The guys have a much broader range of choices.
The choices for women here are Fitness and hang out with the guys.
This is not a new development. Remember the uproar when they made all these great changes?
My wife never posts anymore. She just reads what CW, Thibs, et al have to say and goes about her business.
There is no place for her to contribute. She is stronger than most women on here save for the erica’s and the fireplugs, has her diet as tight as any competitor, and trains harder than most men.
Sadly, the MWA contingent thinks it is about getting your fake tits posted on the PI, or entering a fucking contest.

Tell her to post with the guys. There are not enough women in the world that train hard enough with weights to expect them to have a big forum. I understand the complaints but think the are a bit unrealistic.
I welcome the women in with the guys and don’t understand why things should be overly segregated.
Rainjack,
From some quick browsing over at the MWA boards, it would appear a lot of the women posting on there are at Level 0 or Level 1, so I’m sure if MWA is generating the type of income Biotest was hoping for when creating that site.
Yo Momma, you hit it right on the head with that first reply and I have nothing else to add on the topic.

I enjoy the Quest for Strength thread, that being said, I think we need to cater to the strength athletes that are women since they are just as important as the figure chicks.

The answer to this is obvious and it’s because the vast majority of visitors to this site undoubtedly prefer to look at the type of Powerful Images that have been featured.
I appreciate strong, athletic women, but I’d much rather look at T&A.
The gripping really does come off as jealousy. Some people threw a fit when a separate area was created for women to post, and now they complain that too much focus is put on figure comp in that area. Just post on this forum.
We used to have all kinds of cool threads and discussions. Then things changed. Many great posters left and the overall attitude is different. We asked for a power/strength forum, but it didn’t happen. Making observations about and discussing this does not constitute whining IMO.
As far as the jealousy comments, one of the great things about this place was that most of the women truly did not aspire to be skinny women with helium filled funbags in trashy outfits. We rolled our eyes and occasionally teased when the guys oogled them, but they were put there as eye-candy, not featured competitors.
But there is no place for women interested in such things to congregate. The guys have a much broader range of choices.
WTF? No place for the women to congregrate? Are they such soft pansies that they can’t hang out where ever they want? Why can’t they hang out on any thread on T-Nation that they want and who says they have to congregate only on MWA? So far I haven’t seen any signs that say “No females allowed” on this site.
Sic, Jilly, YoMama, etc. if you don’t like fake tans and big boobs (that were already pointed out to be a big part of bodybuilding, like it or not) then quit whining and start threads you want to discuss on T-Nation. You just sound whimpier than the fake tan, big boobed, skinny chicks with all the whining you do about things not being what they used to be.
Watch and LISTEN to sic’s deadlifting videos, then tell everyone again that you think the three of them sound whimpy.

We are far from whimpy. But then again, you don’t know us. So I’ll cut you some slack, since you are new here, and don’t remember the history to which we refer.

While it may make Biotest more money, the site is not what it used to be - and it used to be awesome.
I rarely even read anything outside Get a Life, Sex & Male Animal, and the Politics sections any more. There is just way too much bodybuilding.com type stuff in the other fourums to filter through. I think the articles have gone down hill in the last year, too. Not all of them of course, as there are still some great authors posting, but as a whole they are not what they used to be. The focus there seems to be on quantity instead of quality. I used to always look forward to Friday afternoon’s when the new “issue” would get posted.

When somebody makes a comment like MsFit’s they immediately lose any ounce of credibility that they had left.
Those of us who have been around long enough have seen them come and go. I personally like the “Fitness look” but… ladies lifting heavy weights also makes me feel happy inside.
The point is, we howled at the moon when they made changes and many good folks left, but it did nothing.

Sic, Jilly, Yo Momma, and others are more than welcome in any of the threads around here. Unfortunately for them, this website decided to make a separate section for females that caters mostly to whiny, soft pansies like you. You see, Sic and the others I mentioned have actually been around here for a while, unlike you. I’m sure they remember when this site had a more hardcore feel to it – all around, too, not just the female sections. It seems, at least from your posts in this thread, that you are just another in the new wave of softness that has recently enveloped this site.
As far as the images, I don’t even understand why there are figure competitor pictures on the main site home page. I get no enjoyment from it. If I want porn, then I want porn. But I come here for lifting, not for silly pictures of chicks. And, yes I feel the same way with many of the powerful images.
As others have said, it obviously has to do with marketing and the bottom line. The site is basically dedicated to two things from a marketing perspective, as I see it:
1.) Men – the core of the customer base here. Apart from their own workout/nutritional needs, men happen to like to look at T&A. Most of those men (not all, but most), like it or not, do find fitness-type women to be more sexually appealing than powerlifter- or large bodybuilder-type women. That’s just the way the numbers shake out. So as far as what the viewers are being given to LOOK AT on this site on the side of the screen, Biotest chose to give them T&A. Makes sense from a marketing perspective.
2.) Women who are either starting out with the whole exercise/nutrition path – the GREAT majority of whom strive to look much more like fitness contestants than bodybuilders or powerlifters, AND women who are already experienced/advanced in working out – again, of those, there are probably far more who are active in striving for or maintaining a “fitness” look as opposed to a bodybuilder/powerlifter look.
All of this is not to say that those same men who get wood over fitness-type women don’t like talking to, hanging out with or discussing training and nutrition with women who like to lift heavy and carry more mass. It’s also not to say that it wouldn’t be cool to occasionally see a P.I. with a strong chick deadlifting a big weight, or something like that.
But Biotest/T-Nation is about the bottom line, and they’re going after the two most obvious demographics for that. I don’t frequent the MWA forum, but it does seem to me that it’s a shame that it’s SUCH a separate site/entity. I didn’t envision that when they first announced they’d be creating it. I think perhaps the regular T-Nation site should still include a forum or forums for women who like to train harder and lift heavier, and aren’t newbies.
