today-

a1-deadlift 3x10x120kg, 2 x 10 x 140kg
a2-db curl to press 5x10x50lbs, with 1 sec pause at top of curl, and 2 sec pause at top of press. this worked the shit out of my core. good times.

HAHA - It’s next Saturday brother! I wouldn’t look for any big numbers from me. This is my first meet in 5 years and only my second full Raw meet ever…lol

yesterday afternoon

wow. this is the fucking BEST workout I have had in maybe a year.

was feeling good, knee was good, shoulder and elbow good, left quad good, low back a little tweaked but not bad, and my carpal tunnel was pretty non contributory, started light after a real good warmup, and this is what happened.

jerks from rack 140kgx1, 100kgx4 been a long time since I put over 300 over my head, this was NOT easy, but far from a limit. I might have had 145-150 in me, but I was so stinking happy about this that I did not risk ruining a good moment and went down to 100kg for a few easy explosive reps, I was pushing 100kg up so hard that if I had let go it might have hit the ceiling.

power cleans from floor 140kgx5, 100kgx10, 90kgx15

have not cleaned in a long time period due to the carpal tunnel thing, but I risked it anyway and decided that I was going to clean 300 plus or get hurt, cuz I just decided I was tired of being a fucking pussy.

I pretty much just made 140kg my bitch. my form was horrible, I deadlifted the weight to my knees, then fucking ripped the shit out of it from my mid thigh.

100kgx10 just because I saw that this is Jim Wendlers usual reps with this weight, so I want to be like him

the 90kg x 15 was me wanting to get conditioning in but dreading pushing the prowler. so i figured I could be a pussy and ditch the prowling today and do some high rep cleans, I mean, that is sort of awesome too, right?

then I remembered that the theme of todays workout was not being a pussy, so i went ahead and did 4 trips with the prowler anyway, and almost puked.

Alicia might not like that, besides I’m 15 pounds under weight right now! The meet went from 18 people to 52 on the last day of sign ups. Dam meet is going to take all day now. Really worried about the squat. I have been working on front squats and haven’t put anything on my back for 6 weeks. Got a feeling this will be just a token lift to get my to the Bench and the Deads…

Details

I went 7 of 9 and ended up with a small meet PR in the dead lift. The ADAU is very strict FED and I had to adjust some things but overall I liked the FED and the judges were good people. The only issue I had was no music and the energy was a bit low because of it. I was so nervous I dropped my opener in the Squat to 350 just to get the jitters out and then went 410 and missed 435. Having to walk the weight out was different and I kept messing with my foot placement because of it. Bench opener was also dropped to something I could rep easily and I went ahead and screwed that up by picking my head up off the bench and getting red lighted. Also feet have to be flat, heels too, so this was different for me as I don’t normally keep my heels down. So I took the easy weight again to make sure I wouldn’t bomb and then jumped big on my last attempt and smoked it. Wish I had that second back and I would have tried something like 350 for the last one. I was really looking forward to Dead lifts and went 3 for 3 with them and probably left 15 pounds or so on the platform. 435, 470, 505 I call this a success as my training goal was to get back to the same numbers I had in 2005 when I went 500, 350, 500 in the APF meet and I’m not far off that. So back to the gym and i will pick a meet in the fall to go after those numbers!

Soon as I find my video cable i will get some vid’s posted somewhere. I would like you all to take a look at my squat and see where i am breaking down. I would like to get my squat up from suck to just bad…LOL

Nice work Colin. Can’t wait to see the videos. Don’t know if I could get my heals flat while benching because my legs are so short.

Great result at the meet Colin and good new avatar. Your lifts are about the same level as mine (although mine are only gym lifts so don’t really count) what weight class were you in?

Why don’t you log your training?, I’d be interested to read about it.

Thanks All! Brett right now I am doing EC’s 16 week Maximum Strength program. I feel the best I have felt in ten years. I have zero pain and everything is going up. I was posting a log but I wasn’t keeping up with it much, lol…too lazy I guess. I can start another but I normally go good for about 3 weeks and start forgetting to post in it. I was a light 275, weighed in at 256.1, trying to get down into the 242’s…
