How to Stop Test and Switch to HCG Monotherapy?

Ok so I was on 90 test cyp/week and around 300iu of hcg. T, FT were through the roof. E2 was high also. Had htc and hmg over range also. Then I had an ultrasound for a stomach, pelvis issue that showed bph. My doctor suggested flomax or going off T.

I was always planning to go to hcg mono then quit altogether. At least giving it a chance. So I’m trying it again. Tried one other time lowering to the t but I also keep the hcg minimal, too. Felt like shit after a 3 weeks or so.

Now for the last month or so… I’ve been doing 40mg of test cyp per week and 3x350iu of hcg per week. I feel pretty good. The morning erections went bye bye when I reduced from 90 but other than that, and a bit of weight gain, I’m doing ok.

My question is, think I should just quit the 40mg test dose now and maybe or maybe not add a bit of hcg or should I go lower and lower with the test cyp dose for a while longer. I have an appt with the urologist at the end of June and getting bloodwork done just before that. That was my thinking for stopping the T now and then being able to see how the labs look in a month.

My urologist said if I stayed on the 90mg per week I’d have to give blood once or twice a month. So, that and the bph and a bit of increased anxiety feeling in the chest is what led me to try and go off now. My numbers were always in range before test, just maybe middle. Maybe hcg can keep me from crashing. Getting off hcg will be the next step months down the road.

I know everyone is anti-hcg mono therapy but I’ve gotta try. I was thinking I’d need more off T, but, maybe less since no exogenous T and the balls working.?

How about you stay on 100mg/wk of Test, no HCG and take Cialis daily. Cialis should help the BPH. No you dont have to donate that often. Every 3-4 months is fine. HCG is what was blowing up your E, HCT and RBC and everything else. I started my HCG cycle 2 weeks ago, and I had to immediately stop due to anxiety, and a couple of other things. The FDA actually considers HCG to be more dangerous than T, so go figure. T monotherapy is where its at.

I’m trying to get off everything in time so T first seems logical. I don’t think my high hct and hmg were from 300iu of hcg a week. Maybe 3000? I plan on going on low dose cialis later.

Hcg definitely gives me some feeling in the frank and beans, whereas T alone didn’t.

I guess I’ll stop T and keep hcg the same per week. I’m sure my E2 will go up for a little while but it’s better than taking an AI.

You realize you need a PCT right? Otherwise your HPTA is going to forever to kick up on its own or it wont happen. Something tells me both you and your Uro are not well versed in this kind of stuff.

@highpull what would you suggest to transition to hcg only? Gradually taper T more and keep hcg about the same or quit T now and adjust hcg dose? I’ve been on T for a little over a year, but very low dose first 6 months. Average probably around 80mg a week the last 5 months.

I’ve read some of your old posts about pct’s and when it’s necessary.

I’d stay with the 350IU every other day and see how you do.

Thanks @highpull I’ll give that a go.

Some on this site say “Everyone is different.” That is certainly an exaggeration: humans are mostly the same or similar as to.most things; but, that said, there certainly are significant variations between individuals on a meaningful number of individual matters. The response to HCG is a good example.

Some have reported anxiety and other negative side effects. Some respond well. For me, HCG added to Test C was great, most low T symptoms went away.

Yes, I got medium severe acne and high E symptoms (e.g. sensitive nipples), but those disappeared over a few weeks or months.

After I added 5 mg Tadalafil daily; 3 months latter, complete resolution.

Were you ever able to transition to straight HCG, if so how did it go? And most importantly did you ever come off Test? How did that go?

Yeah, I went off hcg around 4 months later or so. My bloodwork and prostate didn’t co-operate. Now, just the regular old cialis… 10mg every 3 days.

so you were able to come off TRT completely then? What felt worse, coming off the TRT to the HCG, or getting off the HCG entirely? I am going to follow a similar protocol so I am seeing when would be the best time to schedule off work to clear my head…

Also what do you mean blood work didn’t co-operate?

Yeah I wasn’t on t all that long. A little over a year, and I tapered down over the last few months slowly. The hcg probably kept me ok. Then I tapered that off. My hemoglobin and hematocrit were way over range and I did feel heart palpitations. Then I had an ultrasound and my doctor said I had an enlarged prostate and he suggested I quit the t/hcg. So that’s partly why I went off both. The t worked best when it was way over the top but then I would have had to donate blood and I just said fuck it. It’s not a cure for pfs but it helps in some areas. I’m definitely sorer and not as toned without t… but, my heart has not raced or anything sinced.

that’s good to read man. congrats on trying it and transitioning off it clean. I’ve been on a little over 1.5 year and have kept it low dose (mostly 90-100 mg per week). hoping that’s how it goes for me also. how old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

you’ve also came off? same way?

I lowered my T dose a little. Started taking HCG again. Dropped the T. Upped the HCG for 3 weeks along with aromisin. Dropped that and did tamoxifen for close to 4 weeks and here I sit one week later. I dropped 8-9lbs depending on the day in the last month. I’ve not lost any strength yet, but recovery SUCKS. However, my will is strong and I can motivate myself to do what needs to get done.

I was thinking of HCG only after a while. Just want to see how I’m doing in 6 months. The BPH issue, the donating blood, the lipids, just got tired of it. So I was going to have to get on more drugs if I wanted to continued injecting. Also, my reliability in the bedroom was not guaranteed with the injections.

Thanks for the insight bro. Good work getting to this point. And you’re right you made it this far! Let’s see how you’re doing at the 6 month mark. I️ bet you’ll be doing great. Keep us posted.

Question for you. Was there any part during the process where you felt bad withdrawal symptoms? Like when you went off T to full HCG, or when you came off HCG? I’m trying to take some time off work, and want to plan it around the most difficult phase.

Well great work. I’m 40 and some people say that it’s too late for me to come off. You’re proving them wrong. Thank you for sharing your story.

No prob. Good luck.
