How to Get Ripped?

Here is my child-like understanding.

When your training and diet are good, your body uses food for fuel, and produces Test for recovery. You get diesel and feel awesome.

When you work out too strenuously, without enough food, your body is like WTF?! But it won’t let you down, so it produces adrenaline, and you get all hype and finish your training. Adrenaline is awesome, so this feels good, and makes you think you’re doing things right. But in truth, the adrenaline means you’re operating over your capacity. If you can’t sleep, you probably went too hard that day.

If you keep it up, and run out of adrenaline, all you got left is cortisol. The stress hormone. No Test, no gains. Just fucked up body chemistry. No gains, no energy, no erections. No restful sleep. No appetite. Bad attitude and injuries.

When you’re old, overweight, out of shape, too heavy with bad sleep and poor digestion Conditioning and “hard” Cardio are really stressful.

Taking long walks with the dogs for “cardio,” and using the EMOM approach with weights for “conditioning” has worked well for me.

I use stuff for sleep regardless cause if I don’t, I sleep 3-4 hours.

Adrenals thing makes sense but I doubt my training level is anywhere near producing much. The issue was about HotRox anyway…

Cortisol contributes sometimes, which is y I’m timing the low intensity cardio per CT’s recommendation. It should be more effective and not totally screw my recovery sleep. And muscle recovery is the only reason I give a damn about sleep to start with. Before this year I didn’t take anything, and sometimes would go 72 hours between rest. Didn’t care until I got more serious about training…

I’ll try the ZMA until I run out. If it works I’ll buy more. If not I’ll go back to melatonin.

It’s almost time for that walk…
Peace!

add: Just walked about 0.75 miles in 12 minutes. Didn’t feel like cardio. Will increase distance & speed as I go …

Last night was 7 hrs straight of good, deep sleep. Woke up feeling very ready to be up for the day and am. Looks like the ZMA will prolly do what I wanted.

I’ll take a long walk before breakfast.

Took that long walk and am gonna take a reeeeally long walk in a few hours, I dunno, 3-6 miles maybe. We’ll see. Hell it can’t hurt.

Read up a bit on adrenal stuff. Interesting. Complicated but interesting. Led into more reading about thyroid and such.

Peace!

Nice. 1-2 hours of walking will definitely feel more like cardio than 12 minutes. Also even if it doesn’t feel like the cardio you are used to, you’re still burning the calories. Pushing the pace hard while walking, will definitely have you breathing hard, but that’s not the easiest thing to do initially. Walking = very underrated.

Funny you said that. I was thinking about the simple act of walking while I was out and duh, it’s a life exercise. Who doesn’t want to be able to walk u know?! So may as well practice and strengthen it. Need to buy some 10lb (or more) dumbbells to start carrying when I do this. Or a weighted vest if I could frickin find one - anyone know who has those?

It will help fill my day + it’s good for me
= winning situation :).

Am actually having trouble putting it off till after my Missus leaves for the afternoon. Funny cause only 3 years ago I got winded in parking lots and doing a Kroger trip felt like a marathon. It was a sad time and I’m elated it’s now in the past.

Nice. I personally disagree that you need to carry DB’s or wear a vest. Keep it simple and just get better at walking. Consider a vest once you can sustain at least 4 mph for an hour - even better if you can sustain it for 2 hours. Even then, I prefer focusing on pace over adding little accessories.

I walk alot. I don’t add anything fancy to it. It’s effective in it’s purest form. Just zone out, enjoy, and burn fat kalz.

peace!

Maybe some stuff to listen to while you’re out there.

I realize I don’t need to-I WANT to

@FlatsFarmer thx I’ll check those out

I notice in the first video that CT talks about the number one mistake for natural Lifters is too much volume. Of course that ties right in to his “Best Damn Workout” that I’m using

He also talks about natties switching programs too much. That’s partly y I’m not going to switch any time soon. I think if I eventually need a change, I’ll just swap exercises in this program. The movement paterns and volume, with his intensity techniques, I feel are just right for me to do very long term.

These are pretty common nowadays, I couldn’t imagine you’d have issues finding one. I even saw Aldi selling some a little while back!

Ebay has lots of weighted vests.

Yeh I’m looking around online

Wal-Mart carries them also. Not sure about quality tho

Here’s one I’m looking at:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/RUNmax-50lbs-Adjustable-Weighted-Vest-with-Shoulder-Pads/187936744

That’s nicer then the one I saw in the store. I like it

Hell I avoid actually going inside a Wally World. And when I do I make sure I have two spare mags on me, which is standard for me, but some places elicit a double check.

Unrelated but I’ve ran across some very "different " people in the one close by. From parking lot scammers and panhandling maniacal looking folks to just plain trash inside. There’s a reason there’s a site with pics of the crazies who go there, and I just avoid them like the plague. Online purchase no problem. Trip there big problem. Honestly just don’t like to go dumpster diving to get a Wally deal.

Cheap entertainment I guess

a new depth of cheap yeh

O got a set of 10lb dumbbells this morning and took them for a walk to get acquainted. About 0.25 miles and I was surprised and happy with how it made my upper arms and shoulders feel:). Am prolly going to buy that weighted vest soon too. Hey if no weight walking is good, weighted just has to be better IMO
