Exposure to the sun is just like everything else: Moderation.

True.

Melanoma in Dogs:
Dogs have fur and their skin is usually pigmented which protects them. You’ll notice that most of the lesions are on areas not protected by fur. (Nose, ears (in cats), underbelly, eyes.) Also, notice that quite a few of the animals are white, or mostly white.
It pains me so to agree with rainjack, but moderation is the key to sun exposure. Too little is bad, too much is bad.
Sort of like water. Too little and you die. Too much and you die.
Let’s get real people. If sun exposure is the killer that it is made out to be, then the human race would have vanished from the earth millions of years ago.
Unless you’re a creationist, then the human race would have vanished about 3000 years ago.
And if you’re into intelligent design, what idiot would have designed a mechanism where you need light to see and survive, but that same light also kills you?

The kind of designer with a sick sense of humor.
Being exposed to sunlight without getting a sunburn is probably one of the most healthy things you can do. So, just don’t burn.
Exactly whoami.
If someone thinks that 30 mins out in the sun is a bad thing, they need to get a clue.
I burn easily in the sun, and have even gotten sun poisoning on a cloudy day, I just can’t be out for a long time like some darker pigmented people (damn my irishness).
So, about 30-40 mins outside at a time isn’t going to kill me, 3 hrs at the beach numerous times could do damage.

GO figure. Last I checked, rats were covered with a hair-like substance similar to that of dogs.
And white tends to sunburn more readily than darker colors. Who’da thunk that?
Maybe that’s the thinking behind melanotan I and II. Darkens the skin with minimal exposure to the sun, and helps prevent sunburns.
From the article:
How do you fall asleep on train tracks, and not only not hear the train coming, but not even wake up AFTER it hits you, and then claim drugs and alcohol were NOT involved?
All of this after pulling an all-nighter and skipping school. No drugs, no alcohol. Right.

“I went back under and I went to get Destiny, and I tried to wake her up, and she was kind of, like, still asleep, so I was, like, ‘Destiny you have to get up. You’re bleeding really bad. We got hit by the train,’” Brown said.
The girls said their memories are something of a blur. They said the trestle where they were hit was a common hangout for them. They had stayed up the night before and then decided to skip school the next day.
“We both rested our head on a bag, and we just kind of both fell asleep,” Brown said. “When we fell asleep, we both kind of rolled over and got comfortable.”
The teens said they were too deep asleep to hear the train coming or its whistle blowing. The impact knocked Phaneuf unconscious.
“I woke up with a guy asking me what my name was and if I could move,” Phaneuf said.
The girls, who are best friends, said they will be there for each other as they try to recover.
The girls said that, contrary to some reports, they weren’t sunbathing, but rather just sleeping after a late night. Police said there is no sign the girls were impaired by alcohol or drugs.

I prefer to lie down. That way I don’t need a watch since I have my own sundial.
When you pick a place to lie down and tan, make sure it’s somewhere other than a train trestle.

Hey! THat was BIG news up here in Maine!! LMAO!
I guess I got it wrong. They weren’t sunbathing on the train tracks. They were merely sleeping after an all-nighter.

So, she says, “I went back under and I went to get Destiny, and I tried to wake her up, and she was kind of, like, still asleep, so I was, like, ‘Destiny you have to get up. You’re bleeding really bad. We got hit by the train’”

be careful with the music that’s on. for instance i’ve heard it’s impossible to get tan while listening to coldplay or radiohead. and in case you didn’t know using an i-phone has an spf of 45.[/quote]
this is a little late, but coldplay should be at least 1 paragraph away from the word " radiohead" and certainly not the same sentence.

Hey push,
I don’t mind pukin’ after a drunken binge, because I had a good time and lot’s 'a laughs.
I don’t mind pukin’ if someone’s lucky enough to land a punch to my stomach, because I’m enjoyin’ the fight.
But pukin’ just to get a tan doesn’t seem worth the effort, somehow.
