How to Cook Good Tasting Proteins/Meat?

Before, I was able to stomach tasteless “paper food” everyday if I had to, eating steak or chicken by itself, like it was a piece of beef jerky. Now, I really can’t do it and it’s interesting to find out that if you’re not motivated psychologically, you won’t grow optimally.
In other words, if you hate eating like a bodybuilder, I think, chances are your body won’t like it either??

But anyway, for you hardcore bodybuilders, obviously, we have great tasting carbs. So how in the world can we make meat, or even protein taste good? Keep in mind I’m talking about all other meals except breakfast, since eggs taste pretty good. The only good tasting protein I’ve really tried is protein powder. Some just taste so good. But, it would be a bad choice to rely mostly on whey protein for our protein needs(though I have to admit it would be cheaper).

So what do you do to make meat or other protein taste good? Please don’t tell me marinades as I suck at them because no matter how I marinade it, it still comes out tasting the same, usually saltier. I could try BBQ sauce but I dont think that’s a good choice for bodybuilding nutrition. There just has to be another option. Can somebody please help me? I’m just so tempted to go my friend’s route and eat anything I want to but work out hard. He doesn’t have good genetics but he looks great in the gym under a tank shirt.

Season? Stop sucking at marinades…don’t buy the store marinade shit if you’re worried about your sodium intake. Make your own…buy a fucking cookbook.

I bought this cook book like 4 years ago…it’s from mens health called muscle chow. I know Ill get blasted for the mens health thing, but it turned out to be very informatitive as far as coming up wiht new ways to make healthy food. Since then im a 5* chef in the kitchen, the book literally catapolted me into somethign I had no idea that I loved doing which was cooking.

well being a cyborg has it’s advantages, i just eat a protein rich nutrient paste and download taste simulators for whatever flavor I’m in the mood for. just make sure you upgrade your wetware amps before you upload any of their software, something about the downloading process messes with your optics data cache. I made that mistake and had trouble recognizing faces for a while.

hope this helps.

I find that mixing things up from day to day instead of eating the same types of foods helps for sure. This week I am mixing tuna with eggs and mayonnaise, last week it was cheese wrapped in sliced turkey with mustard in the middle. I tend to eat tons of fish so I like to scramble up some eggs and throw the fish in with it. Dry meats are tough to get down all by themselves. Just mixing things with eggs has done wonders for me. Grilled Hamburgers with cheese and catsup. I don’t care too much for vegetables, so I blend them up in water and chug. I’m very seldom hungry so 3 meals a day along with 2 protein shakes work just fine. Lots of nuts work well as a protein source. You have to improvise instead of seeing it as just a piece of protein on a plate all by itself.

Mix it up my friend!

Lamb + season all.

Wtf…if I cook a nice piece of steak say marinated in some soy sauce, cayenne pepper or with a lot of Mrs. Dash or regular old black pepper. It tastes delicious. You’re either buying shitty meat or cooking entirely wrong. Overcooked steaks suck…Medium rare is the way to go.

quick trick with chicken. Head pan of water+soy sauce …throw in chopped up chicken/onions. Cook. Should come out tender/moist and easy to down. Drizzle some sesame oil to for extra flavor.

One I like is with ground beef, mix with some cooked white rice(or wild rice/brown rice whatever+black beans). Mix them together and add some fresh salsa (salsa verde is delicious to!) Real easy and goes down fast.

Trial and error my friend.

I was going to say something similar. The best way to prep chicken breast and pork loin is to poach (steam) them. The poaching liquid can be anything from a light beer to white wine.

Try something like this:

Get a couple of the really lean boneless pork loin chops and toss them in a large ziplock bag. Put 1 tblspoon of paprika in, 4 cloves of crushed garlic, and enough soy sauce to moisten everything do it sloshes around in the bag. Toss it in the fridge over night.

Next day take one of those steam basket thingies that people use to steam veggies and put it in a pot. Add one tall boy of the cheapest light beer you can find and bring it to a boil. Toss the pork on the basket with out losing too much marinade; put a lid on the pot; and steam them for about 12 minutes.

Yeah it is a Men’s Health thing but there are some great easy ideas in there. If you think MH is bad I can do one better. Siple , easy, good dishes that can be modified are the Weight Watchers cook books. I’m just sayin…don’t put it down until you try a few.

Know your spices & herbs.

Nothing wrong with WW as a source. The macro breakdown is already done for you so there’s no guess work.
