On a serious note, does anybody have the link to the old strongman that used to dig holes to squat in. He would progressively dig them deeper to increase his range of motion as he progressed. He was the original pwnisher.[/quote]
As Csulli pointed out, that was Paul Anderson. He eventually became something of a strongman, but was originally a weightlifter. And that was the 60s, not really “old”, haha.

Thanks for the response I like his training style progressive range of motion is a good method! I thought he was training around the 30’s or so? He was quite big if my memory is correct more so of a powerlifter’s build. Yeah, just looked him up his legs may have had moons orbiting them lol

Here is his wiki
He was born in 1932, so most likely not doing much training there. Won gold in 1956.
I wouldn’t really say a “powerlifters build”. There are many 140lb powerlifters that look nothing like that. He was just a big strong human.

Wait, why are we comparing him to 140-pounders? He was 5’9"ish and 300+ pounds. I’d say it’s fair to say he has a stereotypical powerlifter’s build, as most 300+ pound strength athletes look more or less like him (or did until maybe 10+ years ago).
I am comparing him to 140lb powerlifters to demonstrate that there is no “powerlifter build”. Powerlifter come in all shapes and sizes, with the majority being UNDER 300lbs.
I was implying a heavyweight Powerlifter of current times. Like malanchiev,Wendler and guys that were particularly huge and strong that competed in powerlifting. Slight thread hi jack since that is not the shape I think the op was referring too.
On a side note I would give my left nut to look like Pudzianowski.
