How Much Fiber is Too Much?

I average about 45g per day now; mostly from avocado, sweet potatoes, carrots, flaxseed, blueberries, broccoli, spinach, etc. You get the idea. Been wondering if I should cut back a tad

Why?

depends on bowel movements, general wellness, digestive issues, gut health, etc.

if you are worried, cut the flax seeds, see how you feel.

Take the flax seeds out. Everything else is fine and provides you with more than enough fiber.

Just to be clear, I’m not having any digestion issues, that I’m aware of. I’m just concerned about absorption of protein/cholesterol, etc.

They will certainly slow down absorption of protein when consumed together. I still think that you should take flax out. There’s better grains, legumes, and seeds out there (chia, quinoa, buckwheat, mullet, various beans, etc.). Those other ones provides more micronutrients so if you’re going to consume these things, might as well use the more nutritious options.

I do love black beans, which I have also been eating. I suppose it makes things like flax redundant.

I just don’t find flax to be all that nutritious apart from being a good source of fiber :stuck_out_tongue: Even the EFA content pales in comparison to the EFA content of many other grains, legumes, and seeds. I suppose that it’s one of the cheapest fiber sources you can get though, so that probably explains at least in part, why it is so popular.

Black Bean Chocolate Cake.

Super Yummy (and I don’t use the words supper and yummy in the same sentence often)

I use Flax IF I need it and in a shake. Not often though. I prefer Chia seeds in my oatmeal.
