How much do you usually spend on meat each week or month? I’m just trying to get a sense of what others are spending, because I feel like my costs are higher than I’d like even though I don’t eat that much
I eat 1.5lb of meat a day; it averages to about $8/lb so $12 a day. Extrapolate that to whatever period you want. I also eat a half dozen eggs which is about $2.50 a day. If you look at my post history I asked a very similar question and got a ton of responses.
Been living off of discounted frozen corned beefs my grocery store was clearing out. $3.81 a pound. I slice them to a 1lb steak and air fry that in the morning, along with 3 while eggs and 5 whites. I have a very similar dinner. So that’s about $7.65 a day in meat at that price.
But that’s a helluva deal. For the most I will spend, that’s $5.99 a pound for grassfed lamb at Costco. So that’s $12 a day in meat.
I will occasionally treat myself to something a little pricier, but that’s exactly what it is: a treat. For staples, that’s where I work in my budget.
You have asked this question before.
OP is an askhole.
Personally, I spend about 120-150 € per month on red meat, especially steak and a little veal. I try to buy wholesale or on sale otherwise it climbs too fast.
Depends on how well hunting season went. I eat a lot of venison and some duck through the year. Usually about $0.30 for a bullet, and $30 for a couple boxes of shotgun shells. Yields roughly ~200 lbs of meat per year.
When I buy beef it’s either brisket, ribeyes or ground. I don’t pay super close attention but it’s probably 50% ground, 30% brisket and 20% ribeye by volume. So probably $9-10 per pound overall for 3-400 more pounds per year. But it’s the wood that gets you on the brisket.
So then the game is basically free and the beef is roughly $60 per week. I would guesstimate another $20-25 for eggs and chicken for $80-85 total.
Feeding the wife and daughter is probably another 3rd of that.
I have so much excess and trim from work that my meat budget is almost zero. First world problem, I know.
Eggs are $4.99 - $6.99 depending on if duck eggs are available, and my household eats 14 chicken eggs or 9 duck eggs per day.
Honestly I spend more on produce like coffee, berries, and applesauce since my wife wants organic stuff.
