How Much for Weekly Groceries?

Ok im going to go back on a massive bulk diet, I’m just too skinny. Im 5’8" 175lbs. and I want to get up to 200 with somewhat cleanliness.

I was just wondering how much you bulk dieters spend per week and month on groceries. Im one of those semi-broke college students and I just want to be prepared.

I’ll spend anywhere from $85 to $120 a week.

I don’t see how people spend more than 120. This is not including supplements like protein powder (yes, I consider this a supplement and not “food”).

I wouldn’t call myself a bulk dieter, but I have eaten and lifted myself from a very skinny 155lbs @5’10 to a little under 185lbs in 18months or so. The first 6 months I had no idea how important nutrition was…

Anyway… I live in Canada and spend at least $100 on food. Most of this is fresh meat - steak, chicken, fish, ground beef. Foods like oatmeal are really cheap and should be bought in bulk, you can get 5kg at CostCo for something like $12. I’ve also started buying more frozen vegetables now I used to buy only fresh…

Since I buy some Biotest supplements I can wind up spending quite a bit on those - maybe $400-$450/order… My monthly total for food and supplements can therefore sometimes be around $800.

Shit.

I spend about $100 per week on chicken breasts, egg whites, gallons of milk, rice and pasta. The glances I get from the cashiers are priceless.

BTW, I’m not full-out bulking either

I spend about 50bucks/week
chicken .99$/lb I buy three 8lb chickins 4 egg substitutes 1 cottage cheese tub and some veggies

I think about 85 a week for eggs, chicken, turkey tenderloins, round steak, spinach, sweet potatos, rice, apples and oatmeal. Another 150 a month for Metabolic Drive & fish oil.

I am aiming to add 15-20 lbs by mid-may. It’s been two weeks and two lbs so far. Need to up the calories & budget myself.

I would think a 500 food budget would be tough to do on a student budget, so good luck to you.

40-50 bucks a week. I get the bruised veges from the produce dept. and odd cuts of meat from the butcher… and buy the oatmeal with the dent in the box (cheaper).I gotta cut corners.

My wife and I spend around 170 per week. Chicken breasts, turkey cutlets/ground turkey, chuck roast, shrimp, tilapia, eggs, tuna, and about 20 packages of microwave steamable vegetables.

i spend about £50 every 3 weeks on:

4kg of chicken (chopped, cooked and frozen)
2kg of mince (frozen, raw)
oatmeal
8 tins of tuna
4 tins of corned beef
30 eggs
frozen peas
sweetcorn

i buy my veg about twice a week and thats about all i eat at the minute.

I spend around $150 on groceries, and maybe another $50 on eating out.

I tend to do a lot of cooking though, so I’m buying a lot of spices/herbs/stuff you can’t get at a regular grocery store. So I’m not a good example of eating on a budget.

I spend about £40 ($56 ish) on:
green veggies
Chicken, turkey, steak, eggs, bacon
EVOO
Nuts
PB
Cheese

and thats about it (im on the AD).
Then about another £20 ($28) on whey/casein, glutamine, fish oils etc p/week. Thats on a student budget btw.

Is that all over 3 weeks? I spent £60 for this week and that includes:

3.5kg Mince
1kg Chicken
500g Mushrooms
1kg Onions
3 Mixed Peppers
Bolognese Sauce
1kg Wholewheat Pasta
4 Tins Tuna
500g Grated Cheese
2.5kg Frozen mixed Veg
1kg Frozen Haddock
12 Eggs

I need to start cooking more for work, will work out spending less from next week.

aldi:

400g bags of cooked, chopped, frozen chicken £2 x10 = £20
tin of tuna 40p x8 = £3.20
tin of corned beef 40p x4 = £1.60
10 eggs 70p x3 = £2.10
tins of sweetcorn 50p x4 = £2
mayo 500ml (i think) £1
EVOO 1L £3
Peanut butter £1

tesco:
800g mince £2 x 3 = £6
1 kg of pork/beef frozen mince = about £2
oatmeal 1kg about £2
frozen peas 1kg about £1
loads of garlic = about £1

thats roughly what my last “big shop” included. i also bought loads of spices, lea and perrings and tabasco, but these will last me most of this semester as will the EVOO.

i prob spend about £5-£10 a week on top of that picking up veg, fruit and sometime meat if it is on offer (about to go out of date) etc.

im probably an exception to the rule as im cutting. and probably having 2-3 shakes a day and counting them as meals.

I spend about 90-100.

$75 per week. Supplements (fish oil/borage oil/whey/multi) have to average at least another $25 or so per week.

Look what I just did today.

I was just asking becasue its getting expensive. So far ive been spending about ~80 on groceries:

fresh chicken breasts/meat
broccoli
80-eggs (costco)
2 gallons milk
whole wheat bread
tuna
cheese
almonds
few tubs of cottage cheese

Anything else? bulk diets are getting boring
