How Much Can You Lift From

just as an up-date, i hit a 112.5 hang snatch from the knee with a 3 second pause (3 seconds at the knee) which is a new pb for that exercise.

Strong man, strong!

Koing

we got new lifting Blocks in the gym today so i pretty much had to go heavy in snatch from them

set the blocks to pretty much right at the top of the knee cap and after doing a few doubles on 100 i was feeling really strong and sharp so i proceed to do a single with 105/110/115 and finally a 120kg PB to top it off, no misses, 120 was probably limit for the day so i called it and went to my other exercises.

I’m wondering if the speed you gain from the 1st pull phase helps you to lift heavier weight? If yes then starting from the floor naturally permits heavier weight to be lifted.

it CAN, but only if you get the bar in to the proper position. Some people (like me) struggle to constantly get the bar to the right position for the second pull from the floor then from the blocks and therefor can lift more, or at least more consistently from the blocks.

so the key is to find YOUR perfect position and work on replicating that from the floor. Also being fast from the floor is only a good thing if the second pull is faster. you MUST accelerate the bar. Its better to be slow of the floor and then accelerate then it is to be super fast off the floor with minimal acceleration past the knees.
