How Loud Do You Listen to Your Music?

Doctor told me the same thing. I used to play a lot of live shows with no hearing protection or had in-ears in with a metronome at maximum volume (that was brutal). I also used to listen to my ipod at max or near max.

I’ve made concerted efforts for the past few years to listen to music at a lower volume and some of my hearing has come back. Take into consideration I am 22 though.

Number one best thing to do is go into your ipod and turn on the volume limit. Set it about 70% of the max so every time you crank it up you wont be destroying your ears. I still have a bit of tinnitus but it has significantly decreased since I started doing this.

in itunes I lower the volume of every song by 80%, then listen on the lowest volume possible on meh ipod with noise isolating headphones. It’s only a whisper, just enough to constantly think that someone is whispering right behind you. Yeah, that’s it…yeah…

ok for reals now: as loud as needed to get shit done, but noise isolating or canceling headphones allow you to listen at much lower volumes. I never turn my ipod up over 20%, regular headphones it’s near 50%.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been said yet:

IF ITS TOO LOUD, YOU’RE TOO OLD!!!

WAY to loud. Do you ever have the music on crazy loud in your car, get out do your thing and when you get back in and turn it on, it scares the shit out of you. Thats usually when I’ll turn it down… for a while.

You really shouldn’t keep them in your wallet. The heat from your body will degrade them over time, plus, they will leave little bumps in the leather when you do get around to using them, which looks tacky.

Yeah, it’s troublesome with cars since once you get accustomed to the noise, you put the volume even higher, and the cycle repeats itself. LOL, and then you leave, get back in the car and what happened to you occurs.

I’m really careful now with volume…my old system in my car had 4 twelve inch infinity subs and 5 amps. It could reach 160+ decibels, and cracked my rear windshield twice. My friends said they could always hear me coming from a mile away, and they would call me to tell me they knew which song I was listening too by the bass.

IPOD, full blast. My wife and brother in law have both told me they can hear my music across the gym.

I have been listening to my music as loud as possible my whole life and my hearing is good.
