How Has Covid Affected You?

Too drastic in my opinion

Family members are starting to lose their jobs already. This shit has gotten out of hand quick.

Reading through a lot of this is really eye-opening. I never imagined Middle of Nowhere, Ohio would weather all of this as well as it has. PA is almost on full lockdown, which I really didn’t expect. So far, people here seem to be listening to directives and actually staying home, so I’m hoping we don’t go as far as others have.

Selfishly, there’s been almost zero effect on my daily life. Working from home is different but I’m used to it now. Using my home gym and playing obscene amounts of guitar, extremely thankful I was a friendless dork in middle school and used my free time to learn to play. Taking this time to prepare for playing some shows when bars and things start to reopen.

This man sees opportunity where others see catastrophe … i like the cut of your jib

Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? Fuck, if I wallered in pity every time something bad happened to me/around me I’d be parked in my parents’ basement. Shit happens, sometimes awful shit. Find an outlet for something positive and go for it.

No, there’s another poster on here already living there. It’s been rough.

I gotta say that, in all likelihood, it won’t be too long until they’re forced to.

But the TV ad you guys made making fun of Italy was pretty hilarious.

New York and California may as well be called Italy 2 and 3 because tomorrow we lock down until further notice, they shut the states down out of necessity. Everyone underestimates the sheer stupidity of the American population, especially the younger people, how do you guys think it got so bad in the first place?

People weren’t listening to simple directives or practicing social distancing and non-essential businesses didn’t close on their own accord because everyone is also greedy (myself included, just making a point), so the government had to take away basic freedoms. I don’t see what everyone is so surprised about, this entire scenario was escalated by people not caring about anyone other than themselves and dismissing the virus as something far away from them. They knew that doing this was a bad idea, and continued to act irresponsibly by acting as if nothing was about to happen, until it knocked at our community’s door. Now, boy oh boy does everyone care about stopping the spread of COVID-19! Typical. At least we will all be forced to practice social distancing and maybe this virus will stop spreading.

If you have a pre-existing health condition or have had them in the recent past, you’re fucked should you catch the virus. I fall within this category, so I have to be extra careful. It’s only like a really bad flu for healthy people. For people who already have health issues, contracting it means you’re going to be waiting for a hospital bed until you’re healed (NY has no more hospital space left, and a lot of people around me don’t recognize that).

For people who are old or otherwise frail, it’s deadly. Nobody gets the seriousness of what’s to come and we’ll be carrying mass graves through the streets for our lack of action. You guys, who as far as I know are all healthy gym-goers, probably don’t have to worry about the virus. You just have to worry about giving it to Mom and Dad.

It’s not just the old or already compromised who can be hospitalized because of this. Too many people are hung up on the mortality issue and ignore the ICU issue. I wouldn’t want a tube stuck down my throat for a week or more.

And the general overwhelming of hospitals. I read that in parts of northern Italy they were/are turning away stroke and cardiac patients because they simply didn’t/don’t have the means to treat them. Even among COVID patients they have to pick and choose based on age, health, if the patient has kids, etc.

It’s a sad state of affairs.

i’am agree with u, hope that will not fuck the summer really, and if we can’t work, can’t got some money that will be a bit shit, pasta for 6 mois

Third job shut down. Cleaning/bouncing at a bar. Was expecting this but not prepared, haha.

Just imagine an impenetrable cloud of darkness emerging from the horizon that suffocates all life as it rolls mercilessly and unstoppable toward us. All of the world that has ever been or could ever be snuffs out like a wetted match as it is enveloped within this ever churning death machine. Humanity lies prostrate and without hope before this tumultuous mass of annihilation, this relentless progression of atmospheric doom.

That’s what I do when I get anxious about this. It really helps to keep me centered and act on what’s important instead of being reactive or panicky.

They’re hand in hand. By the time they start tubes and trach’s and figuring out where to park you, mortality is an issue. A big issue.

They save those types of measures for people that have reached the point at which they will only either live or die.

Even for healthy young people, the viruses can destroy your lungs and reduce your lung capacity. So, young people that think they can get away with this are idiots. There were cases in China and Italy were young people that were infected got their CT scans that shows their lungs were badly damaged even after they recovered

Bodybuilding wise
I think I can still keep my size to an extent by using bodyweight exercises at home

For legs, I do bulgarian split squat, single-leg hip thrust, single-leg RDL, bodyweight calf raise, high reps bodyweight squats

For arms, I attach a backpack filled with shit (books, laptops, watter bottles) to a broom then I curl the shit out of it, also do overhead triceps extension with it. And chair/bench dips

For chest and shoulders, wide variety of push-ups, I’ve got good genetics in these areas so this can probably be enough to minimize muscle loss.

For back, this is where I am fucked, I can’t buy and use a pull up bar because I live in a condo. I only do superman for my lower back, any suggestion for back exercises that I can do at home without any equipment?

Working from home with 5 boys and 4 dogs in the house. My wife is a tutor and will be out of work until the schools get up and running online (hopefully mid next week), but then she will be in high demand where we live. Have of my company’s business deals with new hire processing, so that part of the company is going to be screwed for a while. My side of the company is probably going to get a lot more work. My 20-year-old son has a job working 84 hours a week at $20/hr taking temps and asking the 3 screening questions of workers entering a chemical plant. So he’ll make a year of tuition money in a matter of weeks.

I’m in Long Island, NY. All gyms are closed. I was on “staycation” this week that I requested over a month ago. Aside from time with my children and wife, this week has been lame as all hell.

We’re stocked on food. I got home from the gun store about an hour ago, and they were sold out!

My grandma’s close friend has the virus and she’s 89 years old.

I’ve noticed a huge spike in edgelord- and strongman-narrative posting on social media.

I will be attending work because I work in healthcare. My wife is a hairdresser, so she will not be working for some time.

Yes, I know. My lungs are not even close to operating at peak capacity because I used to smoke and I’m in otherwise bad health right now, have been for years. So, I’m not in for a good time if I get this virus.

Actually healthy young people may be asymptomatic, but if they cough in their grandparents’ faces they’re both dead. Healthy young people also tend to think they’re invincible, I’ve been sick enough not to make that mistake.

Well, there isn’t much to do besides react to a state shutdown. I’m also in the NYC area, its spreading like wildfire over here. I don’t know where you’re based, but things over here got bad in a matter of days. First it was 100 cases, a week later it’s 7,000. Hopefully the shutdown prevents further spread of the virus so your municipality doesn’t get hit, but it will definitely last longer than two weeks. Cuomo is easing us into the restrictions because three days ago a shutdown of the state “wasn’t being considered”.

I am currently pretty sick with fever and sore throat. Feels much like a bad cold or minor flu. I contacted a doctor and they denied me applicable to be tested for covid as I simply don’t fit the criteria.

I am wondering if there is a much larger number of people infected that we aren’t considering. Which, in some ways, isn’t a bad thing. Would imply a lesser death rate, but idk.

Either way, I am astounded at the number of people failing to grasp the severity of the situation. Come on people.
