Sorry, no half-naked pics… I’m not a true vixen yet, anyway, but I am working on it.
However, I used to think about this all the time, and after a while it drove me nuts. You can’t really see yourself how the world views you because everyone comes from a different viewpont, you know? Often, I’m surprised how positively people view me. I guess I see the dark side of myself much more than I let on to the outside world.
The biggest thing that has helped me is working with kids. I teach piano lessons to five year olds. It takes crazy amounts of patience, more than I ever thought I had, but I’m teaching them to do my favorite thing in the entire world. It’s like giving them the biggest Christmas gift I can think of once a week. Music is just sweet like that.
Maybe you guys who want to make more of a positive impact can think of some sort of teaching that involves lifting (bodybuilding or powerlifting… whatever is your passion)? If you can’t stand the idea, just tell others about this site. I have learned a ton here, and teaching a few more guys at the gym not to do curls in the squat rack will make everyone happy… A very positive impact, I think…

Been doing a little deep thinking lately. Most of us are pretty locked into our own little world. We are constantly looking outward. We make judgements all day long about other people. Have you ever stopped and tried to look at yourself from the outside looking in. How do other people percieve you. Do you make thier lives better? Do you make thier lives worse? Are they indifferent to you? Has anyone gave an honest judgement on your own life?
Taking a very realistic view, I probably make a handful of peoples lives better on any appreciable level. I make a couple handfuls of people lives better marginally. The rest of the world is probably indifferent to my existance. I would say over my entire life I have probably made life worse for a handful of people, mostly high school antics type things.
Looking at that, I’m not all that impressed. I mean I think pretty highly of myself, but honestly, that’s just not all that impressive. Does anyone give two shits how the rest of the world views them? Does it mean anything if you make other peoples lives better? If you try to make other peoples lives better, are you just going to get taken advantage of? Experience, wisdom and opinions welcomed.

I know plenty of people with the best of intentions that are just annoying as hell. I’m not happy to see them at all.

Good intentions : the road to hell is paved with 'em.

And as for the T-Nation community y’all either like me and find what I contribute valuable, or you hate me and think I’m a douchebag and full of shit and morally bankrupt - The “fuck angry chicken” bandwagon is alive and well… a fact that amuses me to no end

Dude, if ONE PERSON counts as a bandwagon then one really ought to question the rest of your self-perceptions there, lol. Seriously, you do have a flair for the dramatic. And goodness, you really are easily shaken. Relax already!

Obviously when he refers to the “Fuck angry chicken” bandwagon he’s talking about the vehicle that his legion of groupies use to follow him around. He’s a sex god who leaves them better than he found them, you know. It must be true, because he keeps saying it.

Then all you would have to do is let them know. Then they will strive to be less annoying, since their good intentions are the driving force.

Never heard that one before, I don’t get it, what does it mean? Then what is the road to “heaven” paved with?

Maybe I’ve had a few bad experiences with “people” in my life, but “fuck the world” was immediately what popped into my head. I can’t control the world, I can’t fully control my surroundings and if you believe you can, you’re naive. I even believe that our control over our own selves is mostly an illusion. I believe that while we do make choices, we would repeat our decisions if the circumstances of the situation were identical. We’re just leaves in a windy day, our cards have been dealt to us and now we’re just along for the ride.
I suppose in the end…I don’t care at all how the world views me. I’ve been told numerous times that I always look and seem angry when I talk. I always just thought it was passion in my voice, not anger.
After being misinterpreted and misread for over 28 years, I really only care about my perception of myself and that those who I love, love me as well. Fuck everyone else.
