How Did The Pros USED To Train?

Fuck I hate the genetic game people play on this site.

Your body adds muscle mass in its self preserving interest of survival. If you train hard you will grow. Pro’s train hard. And I’m willing to bet they trained just as hard before they were pro’s. I think when you’ve been training for over 10+ years you won’t need a log.

Arnold trained 5-6 hours a day. Before you scream steriods and genetics…take in account he worked hard and that’s really the most important factor imo.
Has anyone seen pics of Arnold when he was around 18-19 years old? That was probably before he ever took steroids, he had a fantastic physique even back then.

the more i sit around, the worse mine become…

Op, have you actually ever watched any of the pro’s training dvd’s?
I don’t see any issues as far as splits and volume are concerned…

The whole "pro’s train with ridiculous routines and volume and whatnot are pure bs that morons write in articles in order to win people over to their side.

One can tell looking at his early pics that he developed essentially all of his mass by the time he was 20, before steroids, as primitive as they were then, were even on the scene.

Schwarzenegger is not the only Golden Era bodybuilder one may use as an example.

lol, “dim lights”

a gem in the midst of a rather odd thread.

this whole “weightlifting” game is so friggin’ dependent on each person; i cant’ stand how people seem to want clearly defined answers to things like this.

start with something and let your body tell you what works.

experimentation; just like friday nights at college; right?
hm… rightt?

Eat, Sleep, Train how YOUR body responds best.

On a side note, when did “5x5 or 10x10” become the standards by which people train now?
They didn’t. I’m just giving an “example” of a training method

I dont know about the 10x10 but 5x5 has been around for decades. Steeve Reeves had a big hardon for it as well as others before him. Just a name of someone specific to add context. Hell, it may have said that steeve reeves like it in an article here at T-Nation.
