This whole tournament has been absolutely awesome so far. West Virginia has made some great on-the-edge-of-your-seat endings. Go Utah!
There is not ONE TEAM let that is not looking strong…

I have a whole crap load of tax returns to get done, and this weekend was pretty much a total loss as far as getting anything done.
I’ve been glued to the tube all weekend. I actually thought that Texas Tech would make a decent cinderlla team heading into the sweet 16, but now they are the higher seed in the game with WV.
Is it a just a fluke, or does it seem that the selection committee might have dropped the ball wrt the #3 and #4 seeds this year?
I don’t THINK so, RJ.
Two things come to mind:
-
I’ve never broken it down, but a LOT of these seatings are either a)“automatic” (e.g; Conference/Regular Season Champs) and/or b)based on a “formulae” (NON BCS-like!) that has been worked out over the years.
-
At least with Basketball, smaller schools seem to be able to recruit better and better talent. The “Big Name” schools have to be one their toes, because a lot of these smaller Colleges and Universities are putting kids on the floor with some MAJOR game!

I have a question for you guys on coaches of CoachK, Bobby Knight and Tubby Smiths caliber…
While I’m sure that making free-throws and hitting other shots in those last 2 minutes are crucial…these guys seem to be the “masters” during the last few minutes and seconds of the game…and that you can almost see where Coaching has made the difference in the Game…
Any thoughts?

The Washington Huskies just got knocked off by the the Cardinals.
And UW-M gave it a good run, but Illinois proved how good they really are.
I just never thought that the Huskies were that good, nor should they have had the #1 seed. In fact the Pac10 is just a weak hoop conference this year.
Just my 2cc.
Go Red Raiders!!!
RJ
True about the first seed, but everyone, including me had Wake there and they are out too> The bigger joke was Louisville a 4. I don’t see the Cards winning it, but a 4 was a raw deal. Go Dukies!
I don’t know the official name of the bracket, but the one with Louisville, Tech, and WV in it has a pretty long row to hoe. Not much chance of a champion out of that bracket. Who does the winner from there play in the Final 4? My money says Illinois.
Well - Tech’s out 65-60
Congrats WVU fans - Beat Louisville.
And, Arizona sends OSU home.
Here I was talking smack on the Pac10 - at least they have a team in the Elite 8. Can’t say that about the Big 12.
Go 'Cats, beat Illinois.
Well,
It was a good run Rainjack… Nothing to hang your head about.
That Arizona OSU game was a nail biter for sure. Stoudomire is a hell of a ball player. And to think Lute wanted him off the squad at the beginning of the year.
GAINER
West Virginia is the Cinderella team now. I’d like to see them beat Louisville. My whole Albuquerque bracket is destroyed, now that Wake Forest is gone.
And this is the year for Utah to finally beat Kentucky.

Did you see the last 30 seconds of the Tech game? Not fouling, trying to get off a three when they needed to score twice anyway. Not pretty.

Made me sick. I woke up the house, yelling at the TV. But I don’t know if that was Knights fault, or the players fault.
I mean, Bobby can’t run out there and grab a WV jersey.

Being in the land of the Lincoln, I hope the orange and blue can keep the Cat’s in the bag.
If D Brown and the boys don’t contain Stoudomire…it’ll be a long night. The Allstate is going to be rock’n no doubt.
Time to flex Fight’n Illini!

I love Bobby Knight, and it really surprised me to see that garbage last night.
ZOINKS!!!
So much for the Big Ten having a down year
Bo has the boys playing great ball. Overcoming that halftime defecit - awesome. ACC teams dropping like flies while the Big Ten places three in the Elite 8 - unimaginable. Keep it up Badgers!

Congrates Badgers!
Great win!
Fuck’um Bucky!
Just goes to show all the naysayers how good the Illini and the Big Ten really were this year.
Illinois beat both Michigan State and Wisconsin on their homes courts which has been nearly impossible to do in recents years.
Go Illini!!!
