House Passes Health Bill 220-215

It doesn’t really help. Spin rarely does. You are basing your argument on government projections. The only case to be made on the accuracy of government projections is that they are nearly always wrong. Otherwise the 3/4 of a billion dollars we are wasting would have capped unemployment at 8.5%

The point of contention we are discussing is the mandate of being required to purchase it. I can choose not to pay the premium and not have coverage if I can’t afford it or don’t want it. Under the Pelosi/Obama plan I can’t choose to opt out. The penalties include up to 5 years in prison for not complying. Perhaps there will be additional incentives if you denounce your neighbor’s or parents who defy the party.

When government gets involved the costs will skyrocket. Since they will have a monopoly no incentive for cost reductions exists. Competition would lower costs but the party rulers in congress have ruled that out.

They spend recovery money in non existing congressional districts creating phantom jobs.

I’m sure they’ll do much better with health care…what could go wrong?

How shit that starts out sounding great on paper ends up getting so fucked up and warped in the legislative process is beyond me.

Both parties do it to death. I really don’t get how…

How exactly is the fine going to work? And how much is it, exactly? Is it due end of year? Can a healthy individual just pay the penalty (assuming they’re low enough), jumping onto a plan (that can’t deny him for pre-existing condition) if his health tanks?
