Hot, Wet, and Sticky - I Sweat Too Much

I sweat profusely and found something that I got prescribed from my Doc. You apply it to your arm pits nightly, after having washed and dried them, it’s called ‘Driclor’ (I don’t know if it has a different name in the U.S.). Anyway, after using this for about two weeks, your sweating should have got a lot better; at that point you only need to apply it two-three times a week; after a little while, I think you can just do it once a week.

Honestly, this stuff worked wonders for me! The only problem is that it can irritate your armpits a bit when you put it on, which is why you need to make sure your pits are dry. Also, I’ve found that my pits are quite sensitive, so from time to time I need to take a few days off from it but they’re the only negative things I have to say about it.
No other side effects that you have noticed besides the potential irritation? I’m going to suggest this to my friend.

No, other than it can itch a lot if you put a lot on, or haven’t dried your 'pits. With regards to the slight irritation, I just make sure I’ve got alcohol free anti-perspirant and perhaps ‘sensitive’ shower gel.

It contains ‘aluminium chloride’, so any brand with that in should do the trick!

I have the same problem as you guys. I guess the fact that this thread has so many similar replies shows that the problem is way more common than most people think, so you shouldn’t be as embarrassed by it now. Exessive sweating is just not something people talk about in public much I guess.

Hair removal is supposed to help with odour as body hair traps the odour, so I guess that’s something to try. And if there’s a lot of body hair, I imagine removing that would also keep your body cooler and thus less sweaty.

As for the problem of sweating leading to anxiety leading to more sweating, I used to have that problem and the only way I fixed that was by actively telling myself my worrying wouldn’t change anything for the better and thinking about other things. A lot of time the sweating isn’t even visible/obvious to others, so the worry isn’t warranted. You just have to tell yourself that.

Muscle is what generates heat.
Remember calories are a unit of heat.
More muscle = more heat generated = more calories burned.
The hotter you are, the more your body sweats to keep your temperature in the normal.

There are other reasons why some people sweat excessively besides a lot of muscle mass. It is a medical problem.

I also know someone who had their sweat glands in his arm pits (please correct me if i’m wrong) lasered? I do not knos if this safe or how common it is to do this.
Oh, i’m sure. I’m just saying the most common reason is usually just that you generate too much heat due to muscle mass.
I have heard of sweat glands being removed but i do not know if the procedure involves lasers.
You’re probably right though. It probably is laser.

Same here. Always been that way. I start dripping whenever it is a little muggy out and i’m exerting myself even slightly.

Lately i’ve been sweating like a pig after every shower. It’s really fucking annoying to have to put myself on my couch in front of my fan for 15 minutes just to stop sweating.

Being a slightly anxious person doesn’t help either. I’m not sure if it’s the anxiety that is causing most of it, or if it’s a comnbination of ‘easily sweats’ + anxiety, but as you can imagine they play off one another, so even when it’s not hot out I can start sweating just because I can be too anxsious.
am the same, it sucks ass.

x3 on this one. I’ve sweated like a pig my whole life. When I do anything but sit and stay completly still, I sweat. Like the other guy said above, my anxiety contributes to it alot, especially when i feel under pressure, or stressed out I’ll sweat profusiously. Try just relaxing and stay in cool places lol.

I didn’t sweat till puberty, when I started sweating bucket loads. That makes me think that it might be something hormonal; also men generally sweat more than women- could it be related to testosterone?

I sweat alot too. It’s not uncommon for me to have to wring my shirt out twice during a 1 hour training session (cardio or lifting). It’s one of the reasons I choose to wear lifting gloves. I tried not using gloves but the weight slips out of my grip from all the sweat.
Wear wrist bands and use chalk. There is never an excuse for wearing gloves in the gym.

HEY!!! NOT FAIR! You can not give him credit! I totally already mentioned it earlier in the thread. Bullshit…

Anyway, over here in the States you can get “Drysol” from many different outlets online. www.westcoastskin.com was pretty quick and a decent price. Tell him to get the little bottle till he tries it out. I bought it probably 6 mo ago and still have a decent bit left, so it lasts awhile.

No side effects other than the irritating under arms (but you only apply at night, so scratchin at it wont be gross). Oh, and you dont use other deodorant while using Drysol. Just get some body spray or something because Drysol will stop you from perspiring but as you get closer to having to apply again, you might start up a little stink…

I’m noticing some under-arm applications mentioned but does just applying it under the arms stop the sweating everywhere? Or for effect, would I have to bathe in the stuff or slather it over my entire body? Cuz sweat just pours off almost every skin surface on my body.

Try Certain-Dri. I used to sweat like crazy from my pits, and although it took about a month, it completely got rid of it.

Yes you’d have to use it on whatever areas are sweating.

I’m glad that I’m not alone with this sweating problem.

I remember last summer I ran up two flights of stairs to get to a math class and when I sat down I was just POURING sweat. Fucking embarrassing to be sweating buckets and wiping my forehead in an airconditioned classroom with 18-19 year old eye candy around, let me tell ya.

I work in a hospital and I am still sweating while walking around delivering stuff.

I’ve found that when I use “clinical strength” antiperspirants (degree, mitchum, Old spice has one, I think) I sweat more from other parts of my body instead of my pits. As in, my pits are dry, my ass crack is soaked. Time for a manpon?

Someone once told me that you should take a warm shower after sweating while working out. They said that the cold water makes your body want to try to keep itself warm and retain heat, while a warm shower will trigger a reaction from your body that will try to cool itself. Still haven’t tried it out…I just can’t bring myself to take a warm shower after sweating.

Sorry fellow for bringing up a long lost thread, but I just had to ask…

I sweat a ton in the gym, work, pretty much wherever just as most of the members that replied. My query is this: do any of you who posted have a problem with water retention? and do you crave salty foods often?

I have battled with this problem for a while it seems, and I’ve thought about the connection before, but I just haven’t posted a question to see what others thought.

At any rate, I probably drop about 4lbs of body water everytime I workout, plus whatever I lose in the day. By the end of the day I’m craving salty foods like mad, so I generally power down a 1/2cup of air popped popcorn with some butter buds sprayed on with Pam or whatnot to curb the salt intake, not to mention I don’t try to limit my sodium intake that severely. But it seems I’m always battling water retention so bad that I’m trying to take out the sodium to see if that helps. I know I’m drinking plenty of water throughout the day. I drink some herbal detox tea that has some diuretic properties, but I’m just damn tired of feeling bloated. I hold about 6-7% BF all year long and I look fine in the morning. As far as my diet is concerned I eat pretty basic foods, as stated below:

PreWorkout
-2cups coffee w/ Equal/Splenda (sometimes FF creamer)
-w/w bread w/ peanut butter

PostWorkout (30 min)
-1 scoop Whey + supps
Breakfast
-oats
-eggs
-w/w bread w/ peanut butter
-2 cups coffee w/ Equal/Splenda (sometimes FF creamer)

Snacks (1 protein/1 carb)
-chicken
-steak/ground beef
-apples or veggies

Lunch
-large salad
-chicken (or) lean meat

Snacks (1 protein/1 carb)
-chicken/steak/ground beef
-protein shake
-w/w bread w/ PB

After Evening Cardio
-salad (or) chicken/beef broth soup w/ fibrous veggies
-lean meat (chicken-turkey-beef)
-air popped popcorn
-herbal tea (to help me get to sleep)

-Water is consumed throughout the day at least 2Liters–as well as Diet Coke, coffee sometimes, and herbal tea)
-Supplements include: creatine-BCAAs-Black Powder-Multi-VIT-whey protein

Any notes or comments are appreciated. Thanks.

I think it’s due to a higher than normal core temp. I actually had a girl break up with me because she said she didn’t like lying with me because I was too hot!
my ex used to be like a furnace when she was sleeping, and i wouldnt be able to sleep, so i would toss and turn, which led to us sleeping into seperate beds which led to her reading something in one of those ‘hes just not into you books’ and our demise. good riddance IMO.

a co worker just got botox in his arm pits because he was a sweaty guy and the perscription deoderant stopped working for him. he said it hurt like hell, but he is sweat free so far and its good for a year before you need it done again.

Yep, got the hot as a furnace, low bf, and being slightly anxious all down myself…but being anxious or stressed is what really adds to the problem.
I prefer the winter and spring/fall times, I hate summers, the humidity and the brightness from the sun…bah! I’m already dreading it now…

Feel the sweat from my biggity balls.

i didnt go through page 2 so pardon me if this has alr been said. you could try to wear looser clothing,(maybe no jeans?) so its more airy and thus not trap the heat. of course, hoodies and jackets are out. try wearing that in singapore man, you’ll look as if you just had a bath.
