For Guys Who Sweat Alot?

I know I stole this from that commercial, but what do you personally do to avoid getting a sweatstain on your armpit etc, I’ve considered shaving my underarms O_o.

The new Gillette Clinical Strength anti-perspirant does work. I bought some about two weeks ago. Other than that, I wear a ton of underarmour all day long (their compression shit under my clothes and their loose gear as outerwear).

I just don’t worry about it - I use deoderant but that’s it.

Some of us work around other people closely all day long and appearance does matter.

A portable fan maybe?

I already have that covered.

I totally agree - I too work around others all day but I find I only sweat heavily when working out where I guess it doesn’t matter too much.

Yeah I really don’t know where to go with this one.

If that’s the case, you don’t really sweat that much. I sweat all day long when I am out. Any situation that causes the least amount of tension (dating, doing surgery, or even some public speaking) causes me to sweat a lot. I’m not even nervous (as I do well in public speaking) but my body overreacts to any level of stress.

For guys this happens to, it can really fuck up social situations that most people don’t even have to think about.

Shit I guess not.

I do sweat a hell of a lot when doing any sort of physical exercise but not to the degree you are describing outside any physical activity.

I can sincerely imagine it to be a cause for thought.

There was some research being carried out here in the UK about 18 months ago about it but I’ve not yet seen any outcomes. If I find it I’ll post it up.

I think the Professor has the best suggestion, albeit the only suggestion. UnderArmor or Nike Compression fit allows you to wear your normal gear and keep the sweat at bay. I wear Compression fit at the gym, when I go out, and wore it at work until it was banned. …I swear by the stuff.

Also like the professor said, the social impact of sweating is beyond description. One marked experience was standing in line for a “club” here in town. Hanging with my gym buddies and some guys from work, I started sweating profusely - to the point that my dress shirt was becoming notably wet. Of course, being of a larger stature everyone thinks “roids! roids!” It sucks.

In any case, I just thought I’d share that little tid-bit. If you find something that works well, let me know. I’ve tried drinking a gallon of water and I’ve tried drinking 3 gallons of water. I’ve tried scooting from my A/C’d truck into the A/C’d building in as a little time as possible - it’s more a personal stress thing than a convection thing.

Sucks on dates, too.

I’ve had the same problem. I used to get massive armpit stains no matter what I was doing. For awhile I used a deodorant prescribed by my dermatologist, but quit due to the serious itching and burning it would cause sometimes. Recently it has not been as big of an issue, though I’m not sure if it is a lasting effect of the prescription deodorant or due some other change I’ve made recently. If you do go the prescription route, make sure your armpits are COMPLETELY dry before you put it on or you’ll have a burning there for hours.

Edit: Like above posters have mentioned, finding ways to reduce stress levels seems to help as well.

My work is physical so people think I’m really busting a gut because the sweat just pours of me. Since I usually do four jobs a day I take three shirts to work, which are provide by the company.

Doing aerobics is crazy, it’s like a river. Sweat comes out every pour in my body. Talk about wiping machines down I damn near have to wash them. At least the toxins are flushed from my body daily, or should I say hourly.

Then there’s summer time, I sweat sitting in the shade. It also means I have to drink mass amounts of liquid every day. I don’t socialize much anymore I’m to busy so that problem is not a concern. I’ve got real nice skin thou.

Certain Dri; available at Wal-Mart. It’s about $8 in Canada and it will last around 6 months. Try it. I will bet you anything that it works.

yeah X hits the nail on the head Regaurdless of how queer it may sound I think shaving would help and I might try it. Anyone else got solutions? I typicaly wear a white t shirt under the polo/band shirt I normally wear then use the t shirt to lift in after school.

Second the Certain Dri. It is awesome. Though I’m sure a bunch of anti-aluminum folks will slam it, but thats another discussion for another day.

Again. Two words.

CERTAIN. DRI.

Not to sure shaving is going to help you…when ever I trim the ole pit hair I find that it makes pit sweat worse. I generally wear a v neck cotton T under polos or dress shirts, but that only minimizes the sweat. I hate having a white T visible under the shirt, but sometimes it’s better than sweat rings. I seem to get it the worse when I wear a shirt that is tighter in the shoulders/arms. Too bad UA didn’t make a v neck compression shirt.

Just curious…to whoever said UA is banned at their work, what do you do?

You guys sound like you only have underarm sweat problems. I sweat every where, I tried drinking less liquid but that was a really bad idea. As long as I don’t eat crappy food I don’t stink, thankfully. I do need to change shirts a lot especially in the summer. Even my pants get damp from the condensation and wet in the summer around the waist line. It’s pretty much something Ive learned to live with. Just have to do a lot of laundry.

Go Pheromones! Don’t use antiperspirant.

I was wondering that as well. The military has them in every BX store. They are now an approved part of the uniform. Whatever job has banned them must be really out of touch.
