Hell yeah.

Or maybe get out, stand above it, and do so.

My gym has a co-ed whirlpool. I use it after doing legs. Twice I have been in there with a very nice 30 something housewife who is probably 100’ overweight. She’s asked me for training advice both times, followed my advice after the first time, and seems sincerely committed to getting in shape. I like her, and people like her and only want to encourage them.
But today there were three annoying fat-asses in there that just about got on my last nerve, B.S.-ing about how it was bad for you to work out too hard, “I just work on the machines, 1 set on each one for about 12 repetitions, without pushing myself too hard, about 3 times a week, because that’s all you need.” And how anybody else that was below 20% bf had to have an abnormal metabolism and be able to eat whatever they wanted, and could train hard and recover in a couple of hours, and a lot more of that crap.
I got out before I said something I regretted.
I think we need to start a “Vent your Spleen” style thread where people can write this sort of stuff in. This sort of thread is becoming far too common.
In these circumstances simply just say “Well it’s obviously working for you.”

Moderators, you listening here? I think the “Vent Your Spleen” Formum is a GREAT idea.

Not sure if we should hunt you down and thank you or Kill you for that one?
I’ve never understood why people get so upset about fat people. If someone is happy being fat, then let them get on with it, surely someone has to eat all the butter?

It’s the lame excuses and know-it-all fatbastards that torque me off. I’m one of those that admires (Subway) Jared, although he needs to get under some weight as well as take his walks.

I would go with kill but I am in a bad mood.
I have no problem with fat people but I hate it when they are constantly asking me for diet and workout advice and continue to overeat and walk on treadmill. If you are not going to take my advice, stop bugging me.

Walk 2.2 mph on the treadmill, for 20 min. And eat CRAP.

That’s what they want to hear. Unless I see someone is serious, I limit my answers to yes or no (when possible). I will always answer questions in the weight room just not in the locker room.
I thought this thread was going to be about a game of “Guess where my foot is”.
Boo.

You sir, are a genius. May I use this one as well? I am being sincere.

I agree. I have lots of buddies who are fat. They don’t give a fuck and neither do I.
Whine about it, though, and there’s a circle of hell just for you.

I think it’s more along the lines that they get so upset about the ones who say they CAN’T lose fat. They blame it on something other than their lack of discipline, and will power.
If someone is happy being fat then let them.
On the rig im on, we have a crane operator who is HUGE, not in a good way. He weighs over 400 LB’s. He has been caught lie’ing about his weight on helicopter manifests, and he gets away with it cause he maxes the scale out.
I over heard him telling someone that “God made him that way”. That’s udder bullshit. I guess he is happy though…whatever. I however never want to fly on the same helicopter as him.

Great post. It’s just as annoying when people make it sound like having above 12% is the scourge of Western civilization and a sure sign of its demise as it is when people who eat boxes of Klondike bars at dawn moan about why they can’t lose weight.
I think that most overweight people try to rationalize away their sadness from being overweight. Most conversations of the ilk talked about in this thread typically sound like a person trying to explain why they are the way they are and why it’s not really bad. I try not to get angry about people who vent about things like this because they are most likely just trying to hide their feelings of unhappiness.
Rather than just ignoring them, it may be a better choice to start planting small seeds in their minds about what they could change to improve themselves (be it something as simple as eat protein with every meal). Most people are uncomfortable with large changes like beginning to log their food intake. Little changes seem to be the best road.

Intentional or not, this is an awesome line.
