I have been told by Nutrition Plus that there latest order of HOT-ROX has been impounded by NZ Customs and that Customs has advised them it is now banned in NZ. No advanced warning.
Has anyone else had there HOT-ROX imports stopped at Customs recently?
I have been told that it is a joint decision between NZ and Australia.
What I have heard is that it is because it contains yohimbine which is a banned substance in Australia, but there are still plently of yohimbine products for sale at many stores in NZ, and HOT-ROX has been sold in NZ for a couple of years.
Also several protein powders have been held up due to the Potassium content, even though other pills contain far more Potassium. Seems that are different rules for powders and pills.
The original HOT-ROX does not contain any yohimbine at all, but HOT-ROX Extreme contains yohimbine HCL which is a banned substance in Australia and NZ. But HOT-ROX Extreme has been sold in NZ in the past.
Now it seems both Original and Extreme have been banned. So not sure if the yohimbine reason makes sense as original does not even have yohimbine in it.
I am not a (bio)chemist, but yohimbine and 17α-hydroxy-yohimban-16α-
carboxylic acid methyl ester (which is what wikipedia informs me yohimbine is) don’t appear on either of the two following pages:
If it is banned in NZ it’s unlikely to be official. Last year there was a big who-ha over adopting the same laws that regulate supplements in oz. In the end the idea was dropped due to public protest.
That doesn’t stop them from imposing unofficial bans. I’m in the process of getting my gun dealers permit and have been informed of numerous guns that ‘won’t make it through customs’ even though there was no law passed stating so.
Every government agency here has rules and regulations that they’re supposed follow, but if read most of them they say somewhere that it’s still up to the discretion of some offical or another.
The beauty of socialism. ‘Don’t worry we’ll protect you from yourselves.’
