I’ve finally had enough of the unknowledgeable trainers yelling at me for dropping weights, using chalk, and intimidating the young kids who do biceps daily at gym. I’ve decided to convert my three car garage into a gym.
I’ve been searching the internet for good sites and prices. So far NewYorkBarbell seems to be the best for a decent price to quality ratio. Does anyway else know of some good online sites? Especially for some cheap dumbells … you know broke ass cast iron hexagons.
josh this has been done before plenty of times try a search I’ll give you a suggestion though get the Powerblocks instead of dumbbells. Their web site I believe is www.powerblocks.com. Then invest in a power cage, and nice olympic bar, and a flatbench that adjusts to an incline, may want to throw in a swiss ball.
Before you go hog wild on those hexes, check out Power Blocks. I have a set for my home gym and they’re really nice. Of course if space and money are no issue go for the hexes.
Sorry, my computer kept coming up with a 404 error on the search. I want to have a few of my buddies train with me at the same time, or else I would go for the blocks. That is why I was going for the hexagons. Thanks though
Check the local classifieds. I see them all the time, from gyms closing down to garage sales. I’ve managed to cobble together a pretty decent set up, and just this past weekend picked up another 200 lbs of iron for $20. New, this would have cost me up to 3x as much, and even at the local “Play it Again Sports” it would have run me almost double.
Check out www.biggerfasterstronger.com. Pretty good balance between quality and price. Also check out “Build Your Own Rack” under Equipment on EliteFTS.com if you’re looking for a power rack.
