I live 90 minutes (?) from Yellowstone. About the same from Jackson Hole. I used to cut firewood in Northern Wyoming. However, I am no rough and tumble inhabitant of the Mountain West. During my 25 years of teaching Special Ed, particularly after moving to the Mountain West, I received several invitations to move to Montana and take a position in 3-4 small towns. Two or three were on the Clark Fork River in Western Montana. One position was a very rural school in Eastern Montana, about five miles south of Canada. There were 13 students in that high school. One morning about 6 AM I received a call in my office. It was a principal calling from Ely, Nevada. I finally had to ask her where she got my name. She just said a friend of hers called and my name was out and around the Mountain Time Zone. The most exciting invitation for an interview was the US Virgin Islands. However, all of these were nixed by my wife. Our girls were starting to have grand children and my wife wanted to stay “close”. We have 4 daughters in Utah, and one daughter in Moscow, Idaho. At the time I was peeved, however, looking back, my wife was correct. Keep that pipe dream!
I 100% know how you feel. When i go into the towns or even down to our local village green there is crime, rubbish and just horrid people.
I could really get on board with Thanos and wipe out 50% of the population. There are so many people in England who are pure scum.
On my walk into my Birmingham office this morning there was a lady just taking a poo in the park, two guys walking round screaming and a bloke off his face shadow boxing a metal poll. The state of our country is shocking.
I don’t think you can quite call her a lady in the same sentence. ![]()
We were walking through Newport last Sunday at around 10am, and on a bench near to the town there were 3 guys probably in their 50s with dozens of empty cans around them. Paired with the ever growing puddles of the entire nights bladder contents, and the discarded rollups floating in the puddles like a sky view of an ACTIVE Straight of Hormuz.
Lovely.
I did not know ladies went poo. You learn something new everyday!
ES4FL Workout
HLR - 1x10
BB Deadlift 105kg - 3x3
Weighted Chins 7.5kg - 3x3
Double KB Clean and Press 20kg - 3x3
Followed by 15 mins on bike, first couple of mins interspersed with short bursts of quick speed. Then 15 mins walk. Bit disrupted today as my daughters epilepsy was going wild unfortunately, something is better than nothing.
Just sounds like a normal day in Birmingham, it’s a shame as round the jewellery quarter and St Paul’s there are actually some quite nice bits.
I had an accidental break in Newport a couple of years back, I’d read about the “other” Newport being quite nice and my mrs spotted a guest house for 4 nights at a low price in Newport and booked it. It was described as having picturesque views of the city centre that was actually just looking out on the royal mail depot. We walked through some underpasses to the city centre and I passed some real good sights but coming from Walsall I can’t say it fazes me.
Yesterday - dealers choice
Easy Conditioning - 2.5 mile run then 1 mile walk.
Amazing thing with running when it’s not been done for a few weeks how hard going it is.
