I upgraded to a propane lantern the other day - that kerosene thing just wasn’t cutting it! I just use it now for trips to the latrine (yes, I dug a hole 50 yards away and I shit in it - baby wipes are my friend!).
I might be in Baytown, TX in January on business. If so, Mr. AC can expect a visit from me. I will make it happen if I get down that way.
Porn biz in Baytown? Hook a brother up!

We’ll actually be shooting a documentary at a Baytown oil refinery discussing how the ingestion of hydrogen sulfide affects the coital act. I can definitely use you.
That doesn’t sound like very much fun at all.

Here’s a closer view of the front. I’ve made some improvements since these pics were taken. I’ve added a “front porch” made from an old plastic skid - just something to wipe my boots on, and I’ve picked up most of the trash and dug a fire pit. I want to get one of those tri-pods so I can hang my dutch oven from it, but alas, with my busy work schedule my “home cooked meals” are what I can fry quickly in the pan over the propane camp stove.
Buy a tripod? All you need is some rope and few sticks. You’re supposed to be roughing it. You don’t need no fancy shmancy tripod.

I actually had some fried alligator earlier this week! It was fucking GOOD! But I could start a whole 'nuther thread about how awesome the food is here…
True, anyways that’s really cool man. Have fun with them coon asses my deep southern brother.
Them coon asses are a trip! The scary thing is that I’m fittin’ right in… LOL
Hard drinking, knife fighting wild eyed southern boys… You just talk a little funny is all ;)
LMAO - everyone calls one of the pipe-fitters I work with, “Wildman”. The guy is a character right out of a movie! He and a few others are supposed to come over to the place so we can do a little fishin’ and drinkin’ later this week (pics of the pond to follow). We’re having a big bonfire for NYE. LOL
Yeah buddy, you livin’ now. And in the spring time you gonna see some of the best surf fishin’ n crabbin’ you ever saw too. Better than chesapeake!
Eat yourself some gulf shrimp when you can, prepared any way but gumbo is good ftr. Or flat fried.
Crawfish season starts up in the next couple of months. I’ve already shown AC most of the town. I’d be a pretty poor host if I didn’t get him to at least one crawfish boil. Especially since he doesn’t even know what crawfish are. No better way to get aquainted with a new species than by eating it.

I agree!

Kinda. They are both crustaceans.
Biggest difference being most folks eat 3-5lbs of crawfish in one sitting. Most just eat the tails, some suck the heads, nobody eats the claws.
Isn’t the head supposed to be the best part? Do you suck the head? 0_0

The tail has all the meat. The head is full of fat that soaks up the seasoning like a sponge. As for what I suck or don’t suck…well, you’ll just have to get to know me better before I answer that.
HoustonGuy wrote:
The head is the most flavorful part. Tails are best though, imo.
Do they have them in Texas or do you just have them when you’re in Louisiana?
Louisiana is known for them but the entire gulf coast looks forward to crawfish boils. West Texas is another story but then Texas is like the size of five regular states so by the time you get to Odessa or some shit, you may as well be in Missouri. Houston is big on crawfish though to answer directly.
As kids, my friends and I would catch them by the wagon load and make them fight or stick them in aquariums as pets. They make great bait, too.
We also have bayous, swamps, alligators, snapping turtles and all that stuff. Wildlife doesn’t care about state lines!
My neighborhood “lakes” have alligator warning signs in fact. Every now and then they come cruising in. It’s not uncommon to see one watching you from a water hazard at one of my favorite golf courses either.

Yeah I thought that you probably had them in east Texas at least.
