Down in Atlanta for a 3 games series so no lifting this weekend. Got my first college appearance yesterday so I’m glad the initial nerves are out of the way. 2 games today
How’d you do?
If I could go back to my 18/19 year old self, I’d be way more calm. I think the biggest thing for me playing, was being comfortable in the batter’s box and not letting the pitcher dictate the speed of my at-bat. In high school, this wasn’t a problem.
There are a bunch of team lifts from the fall earlier in the log if you want to check those out. I stopped posting them this spring. I’ll start logging them again if there is interest. Anyway the team lifts start with a dynamic warm up followed by an olympic lift variation (hang clean, hang clean to front squat, push press, clean low pull, we did hang snatches last fall ) followed by a squats or deadlifts (during the offseason the 3rd day had hip thrusts). After these first two moments, pull-ups, push-ups (weighted or unweighted), rows, single leg work supersetted with mobility work and/ or a med ball throw a box jump or an agility drill. Most of the time there is a rotator cuff exercise worked in somewhere. The end of the lifts usually consist of a loaded carry, prowler pushes and core work.

Anyone been sincerely overtrained? I’ve never felt like this and I’m not sure what to do
I suggest reading through this series to understand what “overtraining” really is and if you’re truly pushing the edges of “overtraining” or if you’re just stretched a little thin & can recover with a week off from the gym and a few good nights of sleep.
Google bodyrecomposition overtraining, it should be the first hit.
Thanks for the advice, guys. I think what happened was a combinined overload of baseball, lifting, stress from schoolwork and a slight lack of sleep that I hadn’t experienced before last Saturday. Diet was actually pretty on point. Overtrained probably wasn’t the right word. Over stressed probably is. I’m fine now, got a good (albeit long) workout yesterday
and heading to Florida tonight to play some baseball so that should be good to get some warm weather, not go to class for a week and destress. I’ll post any workout I do whole I’m down there but the equipment should be pretty minimal in the hotel (probably a good thing for me right now).
Today’s lift
Squats
245 4x4
RDLs
225lbs 3x6
Lateral raises (ment to do these yesterday)
15 lbs 4x15
Sorry, I didn’t mean to insinuate that your problem was a small one. It’s just worth noting that sometimes “overtraining” can be cured with a few good nights of sleep, a little deload, a good diet…and sometimes it is a more serious condition that requires a prolonged break from training. The former is much more common than the latter.
