pfft soulja boy has brought too many titties flopping out of girls tops too make me think anything but good thoughts about him. the great thing was I generally follow whats going on in america more closely than australia. Saw this dance while never thinking it would make it here, learnt the dance then 2-3 months later it was massive here, being one of only a few to know the dance got me a lot more ass than just standing there and complaining about it.
Thats another thing, there is a stupid F***ing dance to everything! How many differant ways can we do the stomp?
Christ I guess I am getting old, but I know im not the only one who thinks this
since im such an awesome guy ill actually provide a link so you can hear the music.
Rocko - This Morning Rocko - Dis Morning[Video & Lyrics] New!!! - YouTube
Tabi Bonney- On It (lyrics dont start til 1:52)
Lupe Fiasco - Pen and Needles
Gucci Mane - My Kitchen
Rocko feat Shawty Lo - Stripes
I am 29 now but my first hip hop rap album was It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us People back. I bought it at the age of 8 fucking years old in ‘88. Its also when I started to become interested in hip-hop as a whole and started observing graffiti (graff’) on the highways and the last trains to hold graffiti on them in NYC. My neighborhood had two of the most notorious writing crews of the 80s, RIS (Rockin’ It, Suckers!, started as a breaking, hip hop type crew but went to graff) and TMR (The Mob Rules, again, started as just a crew into dancing, rap, etc, but went on to become graff heads and professional troublemakers and criminals.
A lot of rappers are ex-writers: Gangstar, KRS1, Eric B, DJ Kay Slay (DEZ TFA) (awesome fucking mix tapes).
My personal favorites are from the mid 80s to early 90s. After '93, I feel a lot of this completely downhill. Late 80s, early 90s rap was WAY MORE nasty and gangsterized and had a much more hardcore, aggressive sound and background than today’s watered down junk (ie: Puffy, Jay Z, and so forth).
I am talking about nasty, hardcore acts such as:
Public Enemy
Poison Clan
2 Live Crew
Ultramagnetic MCs
Eric B and Rakim
Ice T
Easy E
NWA
Kool G Rap (totally hardcore!)
KRS One/Boogie Down Productions
Gangstar
EPMD
MC Shan
Roxanne Shante
Early Wu-Tang
There were a whole lot of others that would get you so aggressive it felt like your head was going to explode!
Right now, my modern day favorites are MOP and Mobb Deep.
By the way, if anyone is truly interested in hip-hop, I also suggest the following documentaries and books:
Style Wars (mostly focuses on the early 80s NYC graff scene but had footage of rap and breaking)
State Your Name (graff DVD with really good hip hop soundtrack)
Videograff (learn what the real graff, hip hop life is like)
Also, back issues of Stress Magazine and Elemental(real mag featuring what hip hop was REALLY like in REAL LIFE, not watered down shit like Vibe and the Source).
Also some books:
Getting Up by Craig Castleman
Subway Art by Henry Chalfant
Hip Hop: An Illustrated History
I’ve also been to some events too, like Mark Ecko’s graff/hip hop party last year in Manhattan promoting his new video game! Shit was awesome!
Saigon ft. Trey Songz-Pain in my life
Saigon-Stocking Cap
Saigon ft. Nas-War
Papoose-Hail Mary (Awesome Fuckin’ Song)
Papoose-Alphabetical Slaughter
Anything from Necro and Ill Bill
Mr. Hyde: Barn Of The Naked Dead
Jedi Mind Tricks: Servants In Heaven, Kings In Hell
The proof that Necro is a true genius!!!
how bout no.

Come on baby (Remix) Saigon ft. Jay-Z and Swizz beatz
On a bodybuilding note, Saigon has some decent size.

this morning nas - untitled was released in australia, after morning cardio i went to the nearest cd store and copped it. I hope everyone in this thread has done the samething, especially the ones who say its hard to find good hip hop
Tech N9ne is my favorite by far. If you really listen to his lyrics, he is a pretty smart guy. He raps about a variety of things. I really like how deep he gets, like how he gets in ‘The Rain’.
One of the songs I heard today from his new CD talked about Darwinism and Creationism, using those words exactly. I was impressed because one of the top songs in america is about “getting silly”. retarded.

one of my favorite songs actually. i got the Warning Shots mixtape when it first came out.
Didn’t expect so many people on this site to know about good hip-hop.
Two artists I haven’t seen mentioned yet are Atmosphere and Brother Ali, both off of Rhymesayers and my two personal favorites.
Also for anyone interested, this is me:
