I didn’t say shit about 1% of the population … I said that the area in which I live is 1% of the population of my state and is completely irrelevant to the overall population, which is the topic of discussion, which you’re more than aware of.

What’s the definition of a livable wage?
a wage you can live on to our standard with out other assistance
Not to jump in the middle of this, but to what standard? Our society has had a lot improvements in basic necessities compared to 100 years ago (or parts of Africa or South America) for even very poor people. Things like washing machines, general healthcare, food availability, internet, cable tv… Someone on welfare today is luxurious compared to low to mid class of 100 years ago. Have you seen what the average person is having to deal with in Venezuela?
Drew1411 wrote:

The standard to which officials elected by a majority of voters agree. Many factors must be accounted for in determining the standard, including determining the levels that will prevent the unemployed from rioting and the taxpayers from rebelling.

In my opinion , a minimum standard would be a roof , food, medical care and a means to maintain it

As far as Venezuela , America ha s HUGE homeless problem, it is out of sight and out of mind

I’ll admit I don’t have enough exposure beyond my city, but here there are a lot of homeless shelters and a place for the homeless to get food every day of the week. I do not know if that is similar or different in other cities.

Would a person living in public housing, living on welfare, getting food stamps, and enjoying obamacare meet your minimum standard? In essence, everyone has the ability to meet your standard? I’m asking because I have never lived on government assistance and needed the system to provide for me and do not have exposure to know if that is possible or not.

One of the issues I usually see is if you provide too much, while that may feel like a good idea, the people only become dependent on you (government). If someone can make $25k off welfare and make $30k working 40+ hrs/week why would they work? A lot of our assistance programs have cutoffs that disincentive hard work or promotions. I’d rather see programs that inspire people to earn a living for themselves compared to handing out free things. If there is a physical disability or mental issue I understand, but if you are able bodied step up and contribute.

What is your solution to the homeless problem that you mention?

You mean the homeless problem has gotten worse under Obama?

Wow…now how do you suppose that happened?

He was going to heal the nation and bring the races together, boost the economy, lower the number of people on food stamps and have a transparent government.

But instead he turned out to do pretty much the opposite of all of that.

And YOU voted for him.

Zeb you are so predictably Republican , I have agreed that Obama has been little better than Bush , but he was better , you forget when Bam took office our economy was in a full death spiral . There is no physical matter that COULD immediately change trajectory and that includes the economy .

But you are correct thing have become worse

Ha…good one.

I gave Bush a “C” as President. Obama fails with an “F”. As for our world standing under Obama we are a joke. If you think the economy is better now than it was under Bush look again at ALL of the statistics. I already gave you a list want another one?

Here homeless problem has boomed with the expansion of Liberal policies, and this is now seen even in the nicer areas. This past weekend I was in Brentwood (a very nice area where people like Obama and Hillary go to slum for donor money) and driving by parks and under freeway overpasses, I see tents popping up that were not usually there.

An article in the LA Times today. 13,000 people fall into homelessness every month, even with some of the most progressive policies in effect.
