What’s the definition of a livable wage?
a wage you can live on to our standard with out other assistance
Not to jump in the middle of this, but to what standard? Our society has had a lot improvements in basic necessities compared to 100 years ago (or parts of Africa or South America) for even very poor people. Things like washing machines, general healthcare, food availability, internet, cable tv… Someone on welfare today is luxurious compared to low to mid class of 100 years ago. Have you seen what the average person is having to deal with in Venezuela?
In my opinion , a minimum standard would be a roof , food, medical care and a means to maintain it

As far as Venezuela , America ha s HUGE homeless problem, it is out of sight and out of mind
You mean the homeless problem has gotten worse under Obama?

Wow…now how do you suppose that happened?

He was going to heal the nation and bring the races together, boost the economy, lower the number of people on food stamps and have a transparent government.

But instead he turned out to do pretty much the opposite of all of that.

And YOU voted for him.

Here homeless problem has boomed with the expansion of Liberal policies, and this is now seen even in the nicer areas. This past weekend I was in Brentwood (a very nice area where people like Obama and Hillary go to slum for donor money) and driving by parks and under freeway overpasses, I see tents popping up that were not usually there.

An article in the LA Times today. 13,000 people fall into homelessness every month, even with some of the most progressive policies in effect.

Do you think it will ever occur to the left that growing government does not actually grow the economy?
Not anytime soon, the only thing they want to grow is their voter/donor base. The Union-Democrat donor relationship is nothing more than money laundering, they copied the same model used by the mafia.

the union was most effective when it was run by the Mafia .

Zeb , you are one of my favorite debates , while I agree with you the left is tax and spend , the right is cut tax and spend , paying for stuff you have done and used and don’t pass the bill to your kids and grand kids is a conservative notion. Those wars are expensive

I won’t disagree that wars are expensive. They are small potatoes when you look at the amount of money we have spent on “The War on Poverty,” Of which most of the recipients are Democrat voter stock.

I agree, we need a good conservative republican President who can dismantle part of the federal government. It’s just too big and tries to be all things to all people.

Not to mention that since LBJ’s war on poverty began in 1964 poverty has actually grown!

When will they ever learn that when you give someone something for nothing that this action DOES NOT encourage that person to go out and get a job. Oh wait…that’s right they know this fact already and are simply pandering (and trying to grow) to their base of voters.

A pathetic and sad party that does this.
