Haha well I’m not actually the most positive, My motivation has been a bit low recently. I even took a 3 hour break before deadlifts yesterday
Really great workout today.
Overhead press:
3x8 with 95lbs
Barbell row:
3x12 with 135lbs
Rear delt-lateral-front raise giant set:
3x10 with 15lbs of each
This gave me a great shoulder pump which was nice.
Fat bar curl:
3x10 with 70lbs
Much more fun than high reps with the 20lbs dumbbells
Skullcrusher-close grip bench superset:
3x10 with 70lbs
I was surprised how much of a burn I got in my triceps from this combination. I usually don’t feel much in my triceps
I had a lot of fun working out today
It’s ok brah. Motivation is for plebs. Staying disciplined on average is superior. Short term acute deviations no worries
Great workout today
Paused Bench: 3x10 with 155lbs
This was harder than I hoped, and the weight dangling from bands is still throwing me off a bit stability wise, but I’m dealing with it.
Incline bench: 3x10 with 115lbs
I’ve really been enjoying incline benching recently. It’s one of the only exercises I can do almost normally without anything feeling sketchy or unstable.
Pendlay row: 3x10 with 115lbs very controlled
Fly: 3x10 with 20lbs and black band. I did 5 second eccentrics on these. At first it didn’t feel very good on my chest, but the later sets felt a lot better
Band tricep pushdown: 3x10 with purple babd
pretty good workout today
Deadlift: 3x7 with same weird setup as last time without the dip belt
Squat: 3x10 with 190lbs
From squat: 3x8 with 170lbs
Good workout today
Speed bench:
3x10 with 125lbs and purple band
Barbell row:
3x10 with 125lbs
Superset:
Incline fly: 3x10 with 20lbs and purple band
Dumbbell curl: 3x20 with 20lbs
Banded push-up: 3x10 with purple band
This was way easier than last time for some reason
Good short workout today
Constant tension pause Squat
190lbs x10
3x12 with 190lbs
Deadlift:
3x5 with 135lbs and black and purple band on bar and green band around my neck
Good workout today
Barbell row: 3x10 with 135lbs
Overhead press: 3x8 with 100lbs
Skull crusher-close grip bench superset: 3x10 of each with 70lbs
Rear/side/front raise giant set: 3x10 of each with 15lbs
Hey man, where ya at?
I’ve been well, training has been pretty boring with my very limited access to weight, but I just ordered a new bar and plates, so I’m really excited to get back into things more seriously.
Currently my biggest obstacle is to find a solution to my uneven basement floor where I can deadlift or place my squat stand (which will now hold over 200lbs finally).
Glad to see you still kicking it bro.
You’re luck to have your own equipment at home. I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find a solution for that uneven surface. How bad is it?
It’s really not so bad, I’ve been squatting light weights on it without any problems, and the bar doesn’t roll too much when I deadlift, my main concern is actually the floor under my squat stand being uneven and causing it to be unstable. It’s not a steady slope, there are some random shallow craters in the (old) floor.
Outside any options? I’m deadlifting outside rn have to get it in the right spot so the bar doesn’t rpll but is not too bad. Won’t need too much space either
still some great work despite the old floor ![]()
Outside my options are stone brick, grass, or gravel. The stone brick is definitely fine for deadlifting, but given that it’s not that flat, I don’t think it would be great for squatting
Hmm. A layer of plywood on top of the later two surfaces might feel level. I squatted inside last sesh myself because it was raining outside and that wasn’t too bad considering it was on squishy carpet. Think it’s wood underneath as well so happy not to punch a hole thru it and break me leg lol
I wonder if building a deadlift platform with 2 layers of plywood and gym floor material (or horse stall mat) on top would help with my problem.
This video seems like the kind of thing I’m interested in, but I wonder if there’s any benefit to making the centre of the platform wood rather than all rubber
I like all rubber top layer platforms. Wood is a little stiffer for force transfer but rubber is good enough and I can set up sumo on rubber.
On a surface that is soft or has a bit of give the platform will flatten it out
@guineapig did you end up buying horse stall mats for your gym? If so, were they smelly? I ordered some (and some plywood) today and I’ve seen people’s reviews complaining about the strong smell and I’m wondering what your experience was like
Found it a bit hard to snag some actually horse stall mats so spent a bit more on purpose made gym mats though I imagine the effect is pretty much the same. They are 15mm thicc and dense. Alone they’ll protect concrete I can drop 2-300kg of calibrated plate alright on em. Pretty noisy though.
Smell wasn’t super strong ever but decreased with time but actual horse stall mats might be different. I’d at least have a window open nearby
