U still a squat god big fella?
I think weāll see in three weeks. Iāll be shooting for a PR single or double.
Great workout today. I was pressed for time but still got everything done
Squat: 3x5 with 345lbs
Last set RPE: 7.5
Form felt smooth. I was nice and bloated, so my belt fit really well. Iām very happy with this.
Superset:
Overhead press: 3x8 with 95lbs
Incline dumbbell seal row: 4x8 with 55lbs
Superset:
Barbell hip thrusts: 3x5 with 295, 1x5 with 345lbs
Face pulls: 3x20 with 45lbs
Very short workout today. The benching I did today Iāll take away from my next workout
Bench Press: 5x3 with 210lbs
Last set RPE: 8
Form felt smooth, but a little weird because this was on a high bench Iāve never used before.
Great workout today. Just finishing what I started Tuesday.
Pause deadlift: 3x3 with 325lbs
Last set RPE: 7
Barbell row: 5x5 with 185lbs
Slingshot bench: 3x3 with 225lbs
amazing workout today!
Squat:
The plan was 4x2 with 380lbs, but I knew it would be too easy. Hereās what I ended up doing:
380lbs x2
390lbs x2
2x2 with 405lbs
The first 3 sets moved extremely well. The last set was probably too hard
Last Set RPE: 8.5
I was really amped up for the first 3 sets, it was dying out by the last one. Depth wasnāt consistently perfect, but it was either deep enough or borderline.
Bench press: 4x6 with 185lbs
Close grip bench: 5x5 with 165lbs
Incline dumbbbell seal row: 5x5 with 60lbs
Nice heavy squat session.
Your existence baffles me bro. Youāre around my age too.
Thank you!
I appreciate it. How old are you?
I am 17
So what do you expect to squat when you attempt a PR, upper 400s? Your squat is real good for your age, I wish I started doing this at 17.
How much do you weigh now?
Iām consistently around 170lbs, maybe a bit heavier. I would keep gaining weight, but Iām noticeably less lean than about a year ago when I was about 10lbs lighter. My squat has been progressing well, and Iām pretty confident Iāll hit a PR when I max out in a few weeks. The same goes for bench, Iām expecting around 250lbs.
Unfortunately, I canāt say the same thing for deadlifts. Maybe some of the problem was that I was doing a lot of sets of 6 and 8 before I started this program. I only entered my max as 415lbs (I pulled 440 last April at a meet). I guess Iāll see how things go as I taper and start doing singles, but with how things are going, Iād be happy with a 425lbs deadlift.
Yeah, bulking too fast is not really a good idea or you will end up getting too fat and cutting weight sucks because you get weaker when the whole point is to get stronger. I would just āeat to recoverā basically and if you gradually gain muscle thatās fine, if you end up small and strong as hell thatās good too and in that case an actual bulking phase would make sense. I wouldnāt worry about 6 pack abs if powerlifting is the goal, but if you are under 200lbs then you should be fairly lean for sure.
Great workout today.
Deadlift: 4x1 with 375lbs
Last set RPE: 7.5
This moved fast and felt great, but I donāt feel like I couldāve done a ton more reps. Iām hoping this means my max is higher than Iāve been anticipating and I just suck at reps
Bench Press:
4x4 with 205lbs
Last set RPE: 9
1x1 with 220lbs, RPE 7
The single felt so smooth and easy.
Barbell row: 4x5 with 185lbs
Good workout today.
Squat: 3x4 with 355lbs
Last set RPE: 8.5
Overhead press: 105lbs x6, 2x6 with 110lbs
Incline dumbbell seal row: 4x8 with 60lbs
Glute thrust: 3x4 with 405lbs
Is there a certain way powerlifters train in comparison to someone wanting to train for strength.
Great workout today
Bench press: 3x2 with 215lbs
Last set RPE: 8.5
Pause deadlift: 3x2 with 335lbs
Last set RPE: 8.5
Barbell row: 4x4 with 185lbs
Slingshot bench:
235 x2
250 x2
265lbs x1
250lbs x2
My best slingshot bench before this was 235lbs x3 a few months ago which was pretty hard
Iām slightly confused by your question. Powerlifters do train for strength, specifically in the squat, bench and deadlift.
*more weight on bar for 1 rep powerlifting rules
Awesome workout today.
Squat: 425lbs x1
This is 4lbs under my PR
RPE 9ish, mayyybe worthy of RPE 8.5
I love heavy squats so much. I slightly overshot this, but I was so so focused, it was so great.
Bench press: 3x5 with 195lbs
Last set RPE: 9
Pretty smooth, not the best form.
Superset:
Close grip bench: 3x5 with 165lbs
Incline dumbbell seal row: 3x5 with 60lbs
