High GI or Low GI PWO?

I’ve been hearing a lot about either being the best way to re-feul your muscles pwo, but which one is best?

At the moment, I eat wholewheat pasta and chicken pwo with some fruit. Is this any good?

High GI, immediately after workout.

it doesn’t matter as much as you think, especially if you’ve eaten a meal within 2 hours of going to the gym. Any carb source will do.

LIES! High GI all the way. The difference is made in the attention to details.

I consume high during and immediately after and follow that up with a whole food meal with lean protein, salad, green vegetables and an apple about an hour later.

LOL, sure it is pal.

Studies have shown maximal protein breakdown inhibition at insulin levels only slightly above baseline.

kinda throws a wrench into the whole idea that insulin MUST be “spiked” after a workout doesn’t it?

Adding simple carbs to a pwo shake DOES NOT increase protein synthesis. Period! Glycogen is hardly depleted after “normal” bodybuilding workouts. T

It would if the reason to elevate insulin PWO was to increase protein synthesis.

I’m pretty sure that you know this already, however, and are just out to show everyone how smart you are.

I never said it did increase protein synthesis. I wrote “maximal protein breakdown inhibition”.

there’s a difference between stimulating protein synthesis, and inhibiting protein breakdown. Elevating (not necessarily “spiking”) insulin achieves the latter.

Great job on the reading comprehension, though.

…Nevermind. You guys beat me to it.
