High Creatine Levels Did This?

That line made me laugh.

I don’t know why this surprises you, I thought it was common knowledge that people are stupid.

Make sense of what? They were dehydrated. Anything else is speculation at this point.

Are some of you this moved by bullshit journalism?

“the players worked out last Sunday at the high school’s wrestling room, where temperatures reached 115 degrees”

im sure dehydration had a big part to do in this, man i would die working out in that gym, i sweat like a beast like it is in a gym with a/c…

I just heard this item on a news radio program, and there was no mention of creatine. They did use the word ‘triceps’ though.

lol

To find high levels in the blood of things that are supposed to be inside the muscles is often a sign of muscle cell damage. I’m guessing CK in the blood was a symptom, not a cause of whatever happened to these kids.
tedro wrote:

What do you want to bet this first-year head coach came up with a new, absurd triceps exercise? Kind of funny that all of the reported incidents involve the triceps.
Its what happens when you have an inexperienced coach/trainer, who was probably doing crossfit or something pretty darn close, conditioning to death a bunch of high school athletes in the name of gpp. Pretty stupid.

That was the one line that caught my attention.

Apparently it’s the evil creatinez, not working out for hours in a 115 degree gym, that causes problems. Just like it’s the steroids, not the myriad of anti-depressants and booze, that caused the murder.

some of the comments are just insane

Which is different from magnum velocity protein supplements.

I actually was diagnosed with “compartment Syndrome” and I still have it to this day. Mine is located in my lower legs and is what the doctors/surgeons called “activity induced compartment syndrome.” Nothing to do with creatine… Usually compartment syndrome is caused by some sort of blunt trauma.

Pretty crazy article/incident. I’d like to hear about what happened with this whole thing

They obviously were taking something and someone will talk at some point.

Even if they don't talk, the toxicology report will do it for them lol
These are some strange times we live in. It is because of this that baseball’s influence on the public perception of much of this shit has such damaging effects across the board.

People don’t even bother with any other possibility.

From here on out, if you are an athlete in any type of strength sport, just know that if ANYTHING ever happens to you, the world will accuse steroids as being the cause.

You would think that would be the first person people blame…but most seem to be blaming the students for alleged steroid use instead.

People are sheep.

That is fucking unreal. see quote below.

BPowell

They had to have taken bad steroids. The arm, specifically just under the shoulder at the tricep, is one of the most commonly used places for intramuscular steroid injection by young, inexperienced kids. They simply mimic what they see the nurse do for their vaccinations. I hope they can at least keep a lid on the toxicology report, but at this point it looks unlikely.

compartment syndrome can be caused by a many different factors. It is REALLY STRANGE that more than one kid on the same team had this issue… something is definitely wrong with that.

Its really not a far stretch to think/assume that it was caused by the kids taking something BUT steroids would definitely NOT be my first thought and thinking that it was caused by creatine is just asinine. Toxicology reports would be helpful

?

It’s not that strange if they were all doing the same retarded exercise for the same muscle group.

He probably had them doing dips on a bosu ball with 200lbs or something.

BINGO!!!

where temperatures reached 115 degrees.

He said the high temperature and dehydration may have played a role. He also said officials will look at water sources and what the kids had to drink, including power mixes.

Oh I wouldn’t doubt that being the case but what I was saying is that the thinking of “they must have been taking something” isnt that far off.

I know a little bit about compartment syndrome because I have it. So I know that its not necessarily caused by taking something.
