Hi God. Are You There? Are You Real?

Because anti gay marriage folks are the anti interracial marriage folks of this generation.

Once they died off society more or less accepted interracial marriage. The same is currently happening year after year with gay marriage

So just like that? As a neutral illustration of changing attitudes (as viewed in an extremely narrow slice of human history) without intent to portray both as logically or morally analogous? Ok. Seems innocuous enough.

Though I seriously doubt that is the extent of most people’s intent, I will accept it is yours. For the rest, I wonder how many truly conduct themselves, and their families, in a way analogous to miscegenationists.

There are a slew of similarities from the anti gay marriage push that is currently dying and the anti interracial marriage push that is mostly dead.

Even your insistence that the time will come when gays cant marry again flies in the face of math and common sense in the exact same way as my great grandparents.

The bell rarely rings to UNDO things passed to give equal rights.

A tiny fraction of history (such as a reference to grandparents) does nothing to dampen my optimism. Besides, I’m not one to go by current fancies. It’s not a popularity contest for me.

It’s a concept you can apply to nearly all of recorded human history.

Feel free to find exceptions lol

Examples of the revocation of ā€œrights?ā€ Gun rights. Property rights. On the extreme side, Nazi Germany. Communist regimes that lurched to life.

ā€œJudge Leon Bazile looked down at Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter Loving as they stood before him in 1959 in the Caroline County, Va. courtroom. ā€œAlmighty God,ā€ he intoned, ā€œcreated the races white, black, yellow, Malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.ā€ With that, Judge Bazile sentenced the newlywed Lovings to one year in jail. Their crime: Mildred is part Negro, part Indian, and Richard is white.ā€

Similar arguments exist in other forms. Ironically these anti-gay places are where you can find a steady stream of adults sexually assaulting children of the same sex.

As for gay marriage going away? No chance. No one’s running on it, popular opinion is crazily for it among younger people. It does have a better chance of happening than the straight vanishing.

Do you have an example?

Ditto

So you see them as analogous? You see the scenarios the same?

Restrictions placed or interpreted years after the bill of rights in order to restrict/narrow type of firearm, firearm accessory, carry restrictions, or person who may carry. Rights have been narrowed, even obliterated in even recent human history.

I don’t see them the same. I was not born attracted to males. My cousin was. I can’t be gay and he can’t be straight without fighting the way we were born. Blame your God for the way he made us I guess.

Ah except you’re venturing into gray area. We still haven’t restricted the arms that the founding fathers gave rights to in the moment.

Marriage, as a legal unity contract, has moved in the other direction over time. Starting as very limiting and expanding in scope over time

Ok, ty.

In how many very recent years has marriage moved towards homosexual inclusion, exactly? This little experiment has barely begun. It is still in the crib.

Except this is marriage rights. Not gay rights. Over time intertribe marriage opened, intercountry, interracial, et Al.

Legal marriage has moved nowhere except towards a more inclusive atmosphere since it was invented

Getting close to 20 years in the US and Netherlands.

It’s gay marriage. It’ll have to survive the inevitable convulsions and upheavels in society and culture on it’s own merits (none).

It couldn’t even buy a beer here.

That’s like a fart in the wind.

Right. Just like intertribe marriage, interracial marriage, etc.

And even then it’ll need to be fundamentally proven that these woes are caused SPECIFICALLY by the legal union. That’s all marriage is in a govt/society sense.

Marriages that aren’t inherently non-reproductive. A black and white can inherently reproduce, bearing viable offspring. Evidence of same species reproductive viability.
