Oh let me imagine what will happen with a non-tax exempt Church, reinforcing āseparation of Church and state.ā Like any business, amight? Gosh, how long before those labor and civil rights laws would come to bear on traditional orthodox Churches, associated schools and hospitals.
When you solve taxation and redistribution let me know. Yes, including the tax money of religious citiznes (we sort of make up the majority) to colleges, hospitals, clinics, public schools acting and instructing contrary to OUR teaching and beliefs.
So you want to use the tax and redistribution system to talk about privately forcing people to accept my religious beliefs (Illusions)?
When and where? The beliefs.
Good, then you know it isnāt one-sided with taxation and redistribution. Including secular tax exempt organizations that receive the tax money originating from religious people and their organizations (not everything is exempt) that act contrary to our beliefs.
I will take you up on it, and sign off on the above deal in a heartbeat. Pull a Benedict Option and become completely untouchable in our own institutions .(colleges, hospitals, adoption agencies) while we leave you guys to fill the holes in services where weāve had to pull out. Letās do it! And since we are taxed like any other business, nothing at all to say about our even more increased lobbying presence.
No, I want to use the tax system to demonstrate a method by which you want to force people to entertain (fund) your beliefs right after you claimed nobody should be forced to entertain your beliefs.
Fwiw, I donāt really want to discuss religion at all. Itās a horrendously boring subject and all religious talks with you inevitably devolve into a one liner battle with Zecarlo that forces people to skip real conversation topics.
But good god man. At least own wanting to give religious groups special privileges. Itās bonkers as shit
The guy getting his gall bladder removal reimbursed through medicaid doesnāt have to become Catholic, right? I get what youāre saying, the funding, but nobody is forced to accept my Catholic beliefs. As for the taxation and funding, again, itās a two way street.
I mean, Iām dead serious though. You complete defend those things above, closing their own tax breaks/exemptions, and I will sign that deal at the exact same time. Agreed?
Ok, I am going to adopt your language. Itās reasonable. Am I forced to entertain beliefs and practices that are contrary to my own through the tax system?
Absolutely. I also have zero problem acknowledging that (especially considering none of those things are spawns of my beliefs that are being forced on others).
edit: should clarify, religious beliefs. I cant say for certain whether or not I morally agree with anything you morally disagree with.
Chalk you up to fund institutions performing abortions and distribution of contraception? Are the the teaching of Gender/queer normalization in courses?
