You mean like burning widows on the hubby’s funeral pyre; or inventing a cage filled with starving rats that fits over a person’s head as torture (China); or how to kill 300,000 Chinese in Nanking?

How about when the Japanese samurai saw an American warship in 1854 (I think) and waved their swords at it? That’ll stop those evil westerners from landing! Or when the British found a kingdom in SE ASIA where the king drank a potion made of human hearts?

I mean, you do realize that those societies were barbaric and brutal kingdoms, where thought was quickly extinguished? Of course, one could take solace in the Baghavad Gita…

…the US is barbaric in it’s own right, so don’t confuse the issue here. You think Europe didn’t have barbaric rituals in it’s day? Think again. Societies come and societies go, just be succesful at being human HH. As far as i can tell from your postings though, you severely lack noble human attributes like compassion, empathy, understanding and love for you fellow human beings. Subjective i’m sure, but because i equate succes with those attributes, you failed miserably at being human, so what are you boasting about?
Justice must be a hard concept for you, huh?

Tell me, do you pass out flowers at the airport?

If being human means that there is no right or wrong and that I’m to have ‘empathy’ and ‘understanding’ for barbarians and stupid flower children like you, then No, I’m not human.

Now, go screw yourself.

Yeah even Europe had its witchhunts and Inquisitions. Isn’t that also barbaric? Tell me Headhunter, do you think Europe was right in trying to colonize the entire world? That they were civillizing the natives and doing them a favor?

I replied with this:
What a load of ignorant crap. You sound like one of those dumbasses that thinks that if you save the wolf - he will be your friend. Little do you know that the wolf would just as soon have you for dinner as anything else.

The life of the American Indian was one of violence, and constant struggle - not the peace and serenity you romanticize about.

Show me the fantasy. You’re own words have you saying that the American Indians were the epitome of “culture and society”.

Someone is in la la land - but it ain’t me.

If we’re going to talk about Clinton, then why not bring up Serbia while we’re at it? You know, the 1999 NATO air campaign against Serbia that was a defacto predessor to Iraq.

When Clinton bombed Serbia, Dems cheered and Republicans cringed. The highly conservative forum FreeRepublic allied itself with Antiwar.com due to the latter site’s excellent coverage of the campaign.

Fast forward a few years, Bush is now in office, we’re now in Iraq, and now the Republicans are cheering and Democrats cringing. The situation has taken a 180 degree reversal. Antiwar.com is now blacklisted from FreeRepublic because it’ covering Bush’s crimes instead of Clinton’s.

Politics. Hypocrisy.
Clinton. Serbia.
Bush. Iraq.
Reps. Dems.
Zero difference.

No one denies that Europeans brutalized native peoples. However, a consequence of European presence was to civilize the conquered region. Of course, it then became a matter of which Europeans, the British being somewhat more civilised than French or Germans. Most civilised places on earth are a result of British presence (South Africa, India, Australia, Canada, the USA, and so on). Of course, they weren’t there to turn the place into paradise; they wanted to make money (a very noble quest) and the civilising influence followed.

You equate human with some kind of fuzzy bear that just loves everybody. You are what we call an Anti-Man.

I suggest some Alpha Male.

HH, European presence westernized conquered people. Is it not very possible that had European society treated native societies fairly instead of treating them as lesser people those societies might not be on the same level as Western culture today? Yes, they brought Western advances to these cultures, but they also caused some serious damage to the native people’s own advancement.

I am not even going to comment on what Western countries did to the native people’s of South Africa, Australia, and the Americas…

This whole “my culture is superior to yours” idea eventually leads to racism and imperialism. Thank god most Americans don’t think like this. Not in the northeast anyway.

My reference to Ann entailed her running like a cowardly bitch because she can’t stand being confronted by intelligent people wielding such unfair weapons as “facts” and “the truth”.

Yours is about her work. Ann doesn’t work. She tells stories to gullible fools.

GREAT POST ! ! !

However, Serbia was ruled by a brutal dictator who engaged in torture, deatch camps and ethnic cleansing.
They didn’t have oil however. The US didn’t sent boots on the ground and not 1 single US soldier died.
