HR also has a physique most men would give a kidney for…
An absolute T-Man.

that article is an excerpt from “Do I come Here Often?” called the Iron…good book.
I saw him do the spoken word thing in Phx a few years ago and emailed TC to say they should interview him. If I recall TC said they’d tried to contact him in the past and never heard back, or maybe said they’d try to contact him if he wanted to do an interview. There was an email address on Rollins’ website and I tried that to say that he should do an interview for T-mag, never got a response… At the show he came out in a black t-shirt that was wet b/c he’d worked out just before the show and washed it in the sink. It dried as the show went on and then got sweaty again because he was getting so fired up as he went on he was sweating bullets.
Yeah, I’d love to see a Rollins interview here at T-Mag. His music has never totally done it for me, I have Weight and a couple of other albums, like em alright, but prefer Slayer, Down or Pantera for the gym. But his spoken word stuff is great.

maybe you need to be 30+ or so to appreciate good music???
Okay, I am going to pull some strings and get the interview with Henry for T-Nation. It just so happens that Harley Flannagan, founder of the legendary NYC hardcore band “The Cro-Mags” is a friend of mine and he is good friends with Henry. In fact he did the theme song for my latest DVD (Harley that is not Henry). I am busy but will see what I can do.

Someday I’ll feel no pain Someday I won’t have a brain They’ll take away the part that hurts and let the rest remain Fix me Fix my head Fix me please, I don’t wanna be dead Someday We’ll all be rich Someday I won’t listen to you bitch I’ll turn up the volume And you can hear all the shit we play just for you Fix me Fix my head Fix me please, I don’t wanna be dead Someday I’ll feel no pain Someday I won’t have a brain They’ll take away the part that hurts and let the rest remain Fix me Fix my head Fix me please, I don’t wanna be dead Fix it!
Henry Rollins is the shit. Black Flag is the shit. Good skate music, good lift music. Straight up bad ass. And shit, I’m a kid and wasn’t even around during his prime.
Mike, that is awesome!
Talk about readers choice!
Thanks.
Very cool of you Mike. Thanks.
I saw Henry Rollins do the spoken word thing here at school as part of the lecture series, it was amazing. I love how he pissed off everyone, he wasn’t afraid to tackle any issue or offend anyone’s tender sensibilities.
I would probably have to print out and save a Henry Rollins T-mag interview.

I dont know if anyone saw Dennis Rodman World Tour years ago on MTV but Henry was on there doing some workouts with Dennis, if I recall they did some bench press shots.
An interview on T-Nation would be great. I’ve always considered him the powerlifting poet.
I’d like to know how he trains his neck.
Mike, that would be great. I would personally like to see an interview with Harley too but I think Henry is the guy more people know about. Thanks for taking care of this, I’m looking forward to the interview!
I considered the interview a while back myself, but just couldn’t imagine what to ask him. I mean, how do you ask this genius: “so, uh… what do you have for your post workout meal?”
I think it would be a disservice to him to waste his time with questions that the average T-Nation reader would want answered.
It’s a tough balancing act Mike (as I’m sure you’re well aware), I look forward to seeing it! Thanks in advance!
Cheers
Looking forward to this interview! Thanks.
Hank is one of the reasons I decided to “define myself by re-invention”, or lift wieghts, as it were.
I identified with him because he wasn’t Arnold Schwarzenegger (although I admire and respect him, as well), but this introspective warrior-type - an Iron-Man from the “real” world.
He is a man of efficient, no-frills INTENSITY. T-Man defined.

“steppin’ hard on four-leaf clovers…”
David- I think an interview is viable, not from a technical aspect but from a motivational aspect. He’d enjoy sharing what its done for him. I’m sure Mr Rollins wouldn’t discussing some of his theories as well - the guy’s been a lifter most of his life, you know he’ll have some opinions he’d like to share.
He might also like to talk about his diet, you never know.
