Helping My Wife

So my wife asked me to help her get into weight training which I am very excited about. Primarily because I think it would be good for our marriage to spend time together improving ourselves. It’s also something I really enjoy and am hoping she might develop the same passion. I’m no expert but I have been training for 2+ years consistently (and used to lift back in HS and college).

The hard thing is, she has almost no experience lifting. She’s not in bad shape, just not really any shape. She’s pretty weak - not judging or anything, and doesn’t understand basic exercise science, like what lifts use what muscles.

Do you think I would be better off having a pro show her what to do, or just take her through my routine? Thing is, I see some PT’s showing the dumbest shit to people at the gym and i don’t want her to learn bad stuff. My routine consists mostly of compound lifts - deadlift, squat, bench, military press, rows etc. I would obviously start very slowly to help build core strength.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

buy her a copy of NROL for women.
(new rules of lifting for women)

I’ll check it out.

Thanks!
