Gotcha. Thanks. There were several different reference ranges for her progesterone as well.
If there are also LH, progesterone and estradiol levels, you could make a reasonable guess as to where she is in the cycle.
Ok. Guess ill just have to bite the bullet and get it all done simultaneously i was going to try to piece it together. Also wife was advised by pcp to go to an endocrinologist. Better option than a reputable hrt clinic??
This is more for my learning as I donāt know near as much about womenās hormones. Does the introduction of exogenous T disrupt the HPGA much as it taking hormones in men does? Thereby making it even harder to help or interperate cycle location/activity?
TRT and HRT as a treatment is under the umbrella of endocrinology.
So Yes.
No, however, if high enough, testosterone can disrupt the menstrual cycle, or even stop periods altogether. I donāt see that very often.
I donāt know. If within ānormalā ranges, probably not getting treatment. Maybe that depends, even if low, maybe not. I see patients under care by endocrinology who feel like crap. Usually under dosed, the get them just into the range and thatās it.
What is a good total test level range in your opinion for a healthy 44 yof on trt?
For Quest labs, the normal range for total testosterone is 2-45 ng/dL and for free testosterone 0.1-6.4 pg/mL. We donāt particularly focus on a number, just like with men, but will take women with low testosterone symptoms towards the upper free testosterone limit, though many go above that.
So in your experience women feel optimal in that range typically? If so my wife is a hyper responder and taking too much. No sides but no symptom resolution.
And i just want to say again thank you all for chiming in. I probably sound like a broken record and i understand thats what the forumn is for but its really comforting to have somewhere to go to get help for stuff like this. Honestly i trust your judgment far more than the drs ive dealt with so far.
Yes, though some need to go higher.
Does your wife just do T ? Or also dhea and preg?
T only. Her doctor had her on DHEA, pregnenolone, and estrogen before trying Testosterone. Eventually weaning off everything but the T has given her the best results.
