@swoops39 gotcha. Im on trt as well and it seems like the womens side is much more expensive.
The men pretty much get testosterone. Maybe DHEA, some thyroid.
The women, testosterone, progesterone, thyroid, DHEA, estradiol (if peri menopausal or menopausal). They seem to need more frequent blood work as well.
@blshaw sorry I missed your post. She is 44 years old. She had a procedure done where they āscrapedā her uterus so she has no menstrual cycle. And im embarrassed to say this but I really donāt know her menopause status. She used to be cold all the time and has been roaming around in t shirts if thatās any indication lol. And her progesterone result which came back at 1.0 did give several ranges depending on where she was in her cycle but us or her Dr dont know. But id guess sheās perimenopausal??
That certainly makes it more difficult to diagnose. Was it an endometrial ablation? Iām assuming it was done because she had horrible periods⦠confirm. Here is a solid picture regarding what happens to hormone and physical response during the different phases.
Female HRT is definitely more expensive up front but Its about $800-1200 a year after that. My woman is on pellets and its taken about 3 cycles to get it right. Her posture is changing, the way things used to hang are being lifted. Shes a 48yr old with the body of a 25 yr old now that the hormones are doing their thing. It takes a long while for the benefits to truly show up. Sleep and hot flashes got better, and libido increased over the months. But there were some moments where doubt set in. Not anymore though. So get her protocol set up properly and get her tested every 3 months this first year and then every 6 months. Mine is menopausal btw. Its great that she no longer has that time of the month with hormonal swings.
@blshaw thats exactly what it was. And for that reason. Thanks for the diagram!
Sounds good. Thank you so much @middleages and im really happy for you and your wife.
I figured. My wife has hormone problems as well. Iāve learned a lot advocating for her. Currently she is trying to avoid HRT as she is still pretty young <40. We havnāt figured it all out yet, but are trying!
@highpull would it be ok to supplement with over the counter progesterone cream and dhea or should we wait for bloods and prescription?
@middleages would it be possible to email you? Id like to ask a few more questions if possible. Thanks!
I would get the labs first.
Ask away here. Email is worse than snail mail for me
@middleages I was curious about reputable clinics for women. Are we allowed to discuss that? Or am I thinking about the pharma section where they donāt talk about sources??
Its allowed. Where are you located?
Virginia. Southeastern part.
Your best bet is to look for a local Big Citydoctor that can help. Usually you find them im areas where plastic surgeons and lifestyle gurus hang out. Not sure of what is the closest most affluent city nearby, but Id start there, because its best if shes physically being helped. Once sheās settled into it, Telemedicine could be the next step.
Gotcha. Thanks so much
My wife had a physical yesterday and was able to get a few things checked through that. Her testosterone is now at 107 after doing weekly shots of 10mg test cyp for about 3 weeks now. That was about 8 days after her shot. Her vit D was right in the meddle of the range. Her fsh was 4.9 and i dont know how to measure it since we are given several different ranges depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle but she doesnt have a cycle any longer. Any thoughts?
Also Thyroid cascade shows tsh at 1.92. Ranges were from .27 to 4.2. Thanks
No idea. Maybe @highpull would know. Without having a period and also being on T, her cycle would be highly irregular anyway.
