Help with Lab Work, Feeling Bad

Appt was today.

Upped Armour to 30 mg twice per day.

Having more tests done. ACTH, Aldosterone, and some other things related to adrenal.

Also having a Pituitary MRI and some imaging on my adrenal glands. I guess the insurance won’t approve both at once so I’ll have the MRI first. The Dr wants to do CT on adrenals but the office person thinks the insurance will require an ultrasound first before they will approve the CT.

Dr. mentioned possible pituitary tumor, adrenal hyperplasia, or maybe even DHEA sulfate is not converting to DHEA.

I ordered my D3 today and will be taking 5000mg/day.

I’m thankful to have a doctor who is being thorough.

Thanks to you guys for you input.

One thing that you and I have in common is the high triglycerides and low vitamin D.

Brain MRI and Adrenal CT Scan both showed normal results. CT scan did show a 1 cm cortical cyst on right kidney but probably no cause for concern.

I’ve been reading a lot lately about insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome and even PCOS which seems related. I go back to my Dr next week and I’m going to talk to him about insulin resistance and see if he has any thoughts. Hardasnails hit on this earlier in the thread.

I definitely feel better when I cut out as much sugar as possible from my diet. Other than that, I rarely have caffeine, no soda, I don’t drink, but my vice if probably sugar. I eat a lot of pasta and partake in dessert often. Bread is awesome.

In women with PCOS they see high DHEA-S, cortisol, cholesterol, blood pressure, prolactin, tsh etc. Similar to my tests and the differential diagnosis are being eliminated. Metabolic syndrome searches yield a lot of talk about insulin and cholesterol but not much about hormones where PCOS is all about hormones but the link is strong with insulin resistance.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to help or what to say to my Dr? I’ve read some studies on cabergoline use in reducing prolactin and cortisol and increasing insulin resistance in cushing’s patients. All of which should help me. Metformin also comes up a lot with insulin resistance. I also know diet and exercise have a large impact.
