Having been reading and posting on the forum for a while I am fully aware that Drew69 does NOT speak for the majority of T-people. Whilst there have been a lot of flames/insults/cutting comments directed at eachother most people have had both the good taste and intelligence not to get bogged down in a mire of racial slurs and sweeping generisations.
To come out with an all encompassing statement like you hate all Arabs or all Americans show a lack of understanding of the given situation and a failure to grasp reality.
You can easliy say you hate the U.S govt or the old Iraqi regime and back up your argument in an adult and informed fashion but when you say something as moronic as hating a whole race of people you have already lost.

I just wanted to make sure everyone knows what country you live in and support. Portugal had the longest fascist dictatorship in Europe, lasting 48 years (from 1926 to 1974). Oh, that means that dissent was suppressed and people thrown in concentration camps. You all read that correctly, A FACIST GOVERNMENT UNTIL 1974!!! Throw in the fact that the portugese maintained a colonial empire forged on brutality and conquest until 1974. You can understand why someone raised on those values would be highly suspicious of the values of freedom and democracy championed by the United States. No, I didn’t vote for Bush in the last election, so I was never a Bush supporter. Yes, I do agree we should have left the UN inspectors in Iraq longer. But what about the mobile labs we just found? How would the UN inspectors find those? What about the illegal missiles found in the soccer stadium? The only way ANYONE would have found those is by ousting Saddam and the Baath party.
If you are going to insult someone, please spell everything correctly. The two people who have been insulting everyone else too much, everyone knows who they are, need to learn how to spell. Wow JWright good job following your own advice! I couldn’t care less that you find me ugly. =) But it appears you are also incapable of “getting along.” You are about the 10th person to make this argument, although out of all of them you make it in the weakest way. To say that our faces would be covered if it weren’t for the troops is specious reasoning and nothing else.
First of all, Saddam and & Co. are not exporting the religion of Islam. His regime is so ludicrously in violation of so many Islamic principles it’s not even funny. Also, most Muslims would love to see the bastard hang. And even if we lost the war, it doesn’t mean that anyone would be forced to wear a veil.
Take a lesson in religion, world politics etc, and while you are at it, please go back and read this thread from the beginning. You’ll see that I’m against the war but that I have nothing against the soldiers who are just doing their job. Soldiers are not taught to think. They are taught to obey…My father was a soldier as were many others in my family so I KNOW that. My beef is with the US government. I don’t support the US in everything it does just because I am a citizen. That would be robotic.
As for the rest of your post, I & others in this forum have made these arguments far too many times. If you wish to scroll up, you can take a look. I don’t dare say that my posts have been exemplary models of decorum…I never intended for them to be. As I said from the beginning, I just want to vent and have a little fun wherever I can find it.

Well no, those are NOT negative connotations. They are words, insults, which CARRY negative connotations. Also “Ugly” is an adjective, yes…But you used it as an insult…which was the very thing you were complaining about/preaching against.
