Heavy Partial Lateral Raises

He just did 5/3/1 for a year straight, logging every workout and getting a very easy 400 lb pull at the end of it.

You did a fantastic job with his cut, but that required dedication from him too. He’s one of the most consistent people on this site now.

Fixed it for you, good sir.

The deltoid muscle has been classically divided into three anatomical portions: the anterior; the middle; and the posterior portions. The anterior deltoid takes its origin from the lateral one-third of the clavicle as well as the anterior acromion; the middle deltoid originates from the lateral margin of the acromion; and the posterior deltoid from the scapular spin

no mention to the word medial, even when “dissected”

Abduction in the scapular plane is generated by the middle portion of the deltoid, […]

Even this time, searching the page for the word “medial” yields no result.

Source 3:

The deltoid divides into three distinct parts (anterior, lateral, and posterior). When all three parts contracts simultaneously, the deltoid will assist in abducting the arm past 15 degrees. It cannot initiate abduction because the direction of pull of the deltoid muscle is parallel to the axis of the humerus. Throughout abduction, the anterior and posterior parts of the deltoid play a significant role in stabilizing the arm while the lateral head assists in raising the arm from 15 to 100 degrees.

On this page, searching the word “medial” will only yield results where it is (correctly) used for other bodyparts.

Source 4:

The deltoid muscle has multiple functions: it’s almost like three different muscles. Its anterior part is a powerful flexor, its posterior part is a powerful extensor, and its lateral part is a powerful abductor.

On this page, the word “medial” is used once referring to the calvicle, never to the delt, which is called “lateral” once again.

Paul, I’m very sorry about how this one went down. You’re wrong and there is nothing wrong with it. I have no hard feelings with you and you aren’t right if you think I would do this because you did something that upset me.

Mine was just a joking comment about you mentioning a nonexistent muscle and could have ended there. But no, you had to insult me and call me a clown dick (which I don’t even know what it is).

I’ll say it once again, you are wrong. No interpretation of the word medial ever makes sense when applied to the word delt. Let’s stop arguing and let’s use our time to do more productive stuff. I won’t post once more in this thread, or in any thread of yours for that matter, because I don’t like your attitude. Fewer and fewer people here are liking it.

I’m sorry because I respect your achievements and your work, and I wish you were more respectful to the people that have always been respectul to you.

Have a nice day.

Posts like this remind of people linking shit from anatomy coloring books telling me that the lats are the prime movers in a chin up or traditional lat pulldown when they aren’t.

“But the lats adduct the shoulder!”

To which they simply don’t understand how anatomy actually works.

I’m sorry that you’re not smart enough to understand this or how real anatomy works.

If you or any of you wish to continue to debate this issue then by all means go to N1 on IG and get smashed.

Guys, guys. May I direct you to the semantics thread in Off-Topic? I’m sure we can resolve word choice there.

Which would be fine if you didn’t have clowns like Samuel in here. Whether you use lateral or medial or middle I’m pretty sure everyone understands what area of the deltoid were talking about.

But again, if anybody wants to continue debating this feel free to go to the N1education on IG and see what that area of the deltoid is referred to as. And we deal in functional anatomy. Not this coloring book bullshit.

I suppose if someone with a vagina can be called a man, the middle delt can be called the medial delt. It’s not like words have meaning anymore.

Well what’s funny is, I had a call with some of my bio-mechanics guys last night, and they all laughed at this. there’s a butt load of peer reviewed research where the “middle” “lateral” deltoid is called the “medial” deltoid.

Because…it’s an interchangeable term.

Just powered through the thread and took the following from it:

  • Paul’s not a fan of heavy partial lateral raises
  • Or Samul
  • I’m definitely using ‘clown dick’ when referring to someone I don’t like

Many thanks
