Heavy Metal Thread (and Associated Genres)

I found this on YouTube. The woman on stage was my hometown neighbor.

My favorite AF albums are:
Victim in Pain
Cause for Alarm
Liberty and Justice
One Voice

After One Voice it was all downhill for my tastes.

I was blown away when I played Cause For Alarm at age thirteen in 1992. Some punk/skin guy in my gym class mentioned AF to me and I just went and bought the cassette. He asked me to go to a CB’s matinee and I was scared to death of the idea—as I should have been at thirteen in the early 90s!

Ever see any legendary bands there ??

Unfortunately no.

Damn…. now that would be something to talk about

Stuff I just keep coming back to.

Cast aside the fear of reality, face the fucking world.

I saw that crowbar is going on tour with eyehategod (both are NOLA based bands) so I’ve been listening to more crowbar recently to get ready to go to their show in February. It’ll be my first smaller venue show and I’m excited!

Seen em’ live a couple times. Good shows. EHG is cringe thought

On the subject of doom/sludge metal, Electric Wizard is pretty good.

Acid Bath is another good doom sludge group. Bleed Me An Ocean and Dead Girl are good representations imo.

Also Dax Riggs and Agents of Oblivion (same guy as Acid Bath)

The YouTube algo delivered me an interview with Night Verses guitarist Nick DiPirro earlier this week. Interesting guy and a very talented musician. Just started checking out his work.

Been listening since 1996… My old roommate from The Corps texted me today he got tickets for their Phoenix show. The one Agents album was so good. I’ve seen Dax several times live

They have a lot of cool guitar licks to play

Dude… so many

Saw this on IG. Self talk goes, “Yeah bro. I’m gonna drive 90 min for this. It will be a blast!”

“Umm, you’re an old man… with grey hairs… in your 40s!

You’re gonna slam dance with 20-somethings… by yourself?!”

Only one friend of mine likes extreme music.

I’ve been having fun with Dead Girl. Both guitar parts. The acoustic Acid Bath version, not Agents of Oblivion.

The Acid Bath version is way better
