Celtic frost?

Tbh I preferred sodom when they went more mainstream (i.e napalm in the morning)

Some of my all time favorites for tapping into agression.

Skeletons of society is a damn good tune by slayer, as is postmortem, south of heaven, reign in blood.

Angel of death is good too, but can be considered to be ā€œin bad tasteā€.

I enjoy some metal. Most of it is just boring though. Monotonously the same. Occasionally something jumps out, Walk by Pantera is a great song for instance. The Game is a great Motorhead song. Most of it, just predictable and uninteresting. Might as well be Enya. Great if I want to fall asleep, lousy for everything else. I liked it more when I was in Highschool, then I grew out of it. And I never could stand any Prog Rock. I do not get the thrill at all. I assume it’s music for musicians, there exists no other expanation for Rush existing.

mushroom… that’s why rush exists (joking obviously)

I really like Tom Sawyer. Excellent song for background noise if relaxing/taking a nap.

Yeah. I’m sure there are mixed feelings about that one.

I think it was Dave Lombardo in an interview said (paraphrasing) that they wrote songs about the world’s biggest assholes.

Like, you don’t want to be the guy who gets a Slayer song written about you. :joy:

I personally don’t have any particular issue with the notion of the song being released as it’s music… nothing more

That being said, I do see it as being ā€œin bad tasteā€. It’s one thing to write a song about an asshole, openly condemning the individual within the lyrics. Angel of Death more or less seemed to take a neutral stance (i.e this was Joseph Mengele, he killed a lot of people). There was no mention of ā€œand he was a piece of shit, a representation of all that is evilā€

As a guitarist, I am pretty partial to stuff that interests me in a musicians type of way. Once I get the feel of the guitar down I can listen to the song as a whole.these are just a few that have been on regular rotation for a while. The BTBAM song is one of my all time favorites.

I didn’t know other people knew who he was.

I know it’s not metal, but if you haven’t seen it, I recommend it highly. I got to see his son, cedric, at a free concert in my area a few years ago. There is a video floating around youtube of him as a kid playing drums for RL on their front porch. He was probably 6-7 years old. Pretty awesome stuff.

There are some people who are easily influenced but I think they’re in the small minority and one shouldn’t censor a genre just because a couple of people are either idiots or already have mental issues of their own are influenced by some of the ā€œdegenerateā€ shit these bands spout. The problem is the underlying mental illness of such individuals, not the music. They’d find something else to be influenced by.

It’s the same with movies, art, literature, poetry etc unless we’re talking about actual propaganda of the really serious kind like an explicit call-to-action for mass killing of a minority group or encouraging people to watch Jimmy Fallon’s show.

Here’s an extreme example to make a much less extreme point:

My schizophrenic relative cannot stand people walking around with slippers at home. You know why? Because when he hears the specific sound of footsteps caused by slippers, they’re voices telling him the person wearing them wants to physically harm him. Then he turns violent.

The sound of normal footsteps and shoes don’t bother him it’s only slippers.

This has been something that started only recently.

In the past, he heard the same voices because of the sound of water flowing through common pipelines in the toilet in his apartment when ever someone living above flushed the toilet. So he’d go to the apartment right above his and smash the windows and threaten them with physical violence,

They blocked the sound somehow by sealing and covering the metallic parts with some kind of material.

If ALL schizophrenics reacted this way to slippers, would you ban them in society? No, you’d keep them away from people wearing slippers. You can disallow guests to wear slippers in your house as well. But that’s all that can be done if you want a free society.

Note: This relative is a moderate schizo, not even a serious case who requires frequent hospitalization. He is almost functional and can actually interact with some friends and do normal shit but he can’t hold down a job because he sometimes goes nuts. And, you can tell there’s something not right with him just from the way he walks and speaks to you but he’s still almost functional.

The same argument went on with video games. Religious organisations/certain conservatives spewed the argument violent video games create psychopaths. Literature doesn’t back this claim and at times can state the opposite to be true (i.e violent video games serving as a method of stress relief).

Same goes with sexual content in video games. Video games aren’t creating sadistic sexual deviants. It’s an argument steeped in hysteria in part due to fear regarding new technological advancements.

As you’ve specified, a certain small minority already afflicted by mental illness may be influenced. But IMO it’s not a valid reason to start putting bans in place.

As to children playing video games… it’s simple, children shouldn’t be playing grand theft auto. Just because something isn’t appropriate for children doesn’t equate to the need for a blanket ban being put in place.

Why? It’s about some dude encountering a cult. It’s a description of his state of mind, not an endorsement of it. Some of the Maiden dudes are Christians.

You really shouldn’t for people who have had no real exposure to the genre, especially the older generation.

But to add to your point about some idiots behaving badly, There ARE some punks who start trouble at concerts but like I was saying in the post above, these are assholes who want to start shit in the first place and this is an excuse to. I rather they fight at concerts than go fuck shit up in society. If anything, I think the music gives them some form of catharsis and the moshing at concerts give them an outlet to vent their anger so they’re actually less likely to commit even more severe acts of violence in society.

It’s like why normal chicks are attracted to horror movies and those weepy chick flicks designed to make them cry and normal men like war movies and big explosions…

Agreed to an extent, there’s also a mediating factor within these mosh pits. From what I’ve seen, if an asshole decides to go apeshit and start throwing random punches as opposed to shoving, body slams etc… the crowd takes him out.

I’m one of those guys who will run smack bang into the middle of these mosh pits, it’s fun. Injuries do occur, they’re usually not purposefully inflicted. It’s just a rough crowd. It should be noted I’m not an aggressive individual… like at all, I tend to use restraint within these scenarios regarding my own conduct in mosh pits. It’s a blast

To this date, I always end up injured.

Metal is fine, it’s classical music that’s the real problem. Both Hitler and Stalin loved listening to classical music and Stalin was also a lover of ballet. We need to ban these things to protect the children.

I was talking about SJW movies in the other thread being a miscalculation on the part of producers that this was what they thought their target audience wanted to see because of the reaction to Trump in 2016 amongst other factors.

When The Last Jedi turned off their fan base and Solo flopped after that, they tried to pretend lots of the progressive themes in The Last Jedi didn’t happen in the final instalment of the series.

So, is it demand for such games driving the creation of them, or are these games created to influence people to do violent shit

I also said The Clash pretended to be ā€œsocialistsā€ to appeal to fans because their record label told them to so they could sell more records. Did they turn people socialist or were a large part of their audience already socialists?

Talking about SJW films… did you see the remake (second remake) of Black Christmas… what… fucking… rubbish

Not only was it pg13 (1974/2006) films were Hard R… but it was feminist orientated. Black Christmas is supposed to be a gory slasher film, not a commentary on rape culture and gender studies.

NOOOO I’m not even a fan of slasher movies unless they’re by Argento or there’s some really over-the-top violence. Never even liked the original Halloween but the original Black Christmas wasn’t bad.
