Metal in general is one of the easiest genres to play, actually. I started learning the guitar with the Kill 'Em All album. I was using a $20 classical guitar.

The solo in the first song is “hard” because you’d have to be good at alternate picking. The Trooper is pretty easy.

Obviously I’m not saying a beginner can learn these in 6 months. They’re not Kirk Hammett’s solos lol.

I’m gonna clarify that I don’t think metal is easy, just that it’s relatively easy compared to other genres that require at least an average level of skill on the guitar unless someone like Marty Friedman is in the band. Also, just because a song isn’t technically complex doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

Relatively easy. Of course, there are really technically accomplished musicians out there in every genre. That’s not counting the crazy subgenres like “math metal” lol. The songs by the more popular bands, however, sound a lot harder than they really are.

Which doesn’t mean they’re bad. Far from it. I’m just talking about the technical stuff.
