Heavy Metal Thread (and Associated Genres)

Sweet mother of yes. Full album in March I think? Maiden’s 3 guitar attack and writing will always be my favorite, but damn does Adrian Smith cut loose on his own too (between this and Bruce Dickinson’s solo stuff).

If you’re an Adrian Smith fan, Psycho Motel is a band worth checking out. Only did 2 albums as far as I know, an eponymous debut which is heavier, rougher but not quite as good and a follow up (Welcome to the World) which is, in my opinion, much better.

Searched for a couple of classical piano pieces to post in the Classical Music thread. YouTube decided to recommend THIS to me. Fuck, their algorithm knows me better than I do sometimes. It’s getting scary.

Not really a Malmsteen fan but I do like some of his songs a lot.

If the members of Zep actually thought that they would be ashamed.

None so Vile is a Cryptopsy record

Yes, but this is “nug so vile” by cannabis corpse.

The band name is a play off cannibal corpse and the album name, as you’ve stated is also a play on “none so vile”. I have reason to believe this is a joke band, similar to infant annihilator.

Even the album cover can’t be taken seriously. It’s a humanized piece of cannabis with a human sticking out of it’s mouth.

Yea. Not so clever. Saw Cryptopsy open for the mighty Cannibal Corpse. Met their drummer Flo. Unreal drumming ability

Actually depending on the nature of the band I’d say it’s brilliant. If it’s a satirical/joke band the knockoff album titles, the name, the absolutely ridiculous art cover, the songs/lyrics perfect.

On the other hand, if this is a band trying to take itself seriously… It fits in the “so bad it’s good” category.

I’ve seen behemoth live, concerts have been more/less shut down in Aus and probably will be for some time. Currently it appears as if borders will remain closed EVEN following mass vaccination initiatives. I’m all for sensibly locking down and instating restrictions in effort to curb spread and reach a level of “covid-normal”. But currently our states have unveiled a nationalistic streak and restrictions appear to be haphazardly introduced for show as a politicised stunt of sorts to convince the masses how strong and independent X state is.

As a result we have states shutting borders over ONE fucking case and no evidence of significant communicable transmission. People are afraid to travel domestically and Australians have been barred from international travel. Our economy can’t/won’t bounce back like this. With nightlife, tourism and venues dead; concerts aren’t going to start up for a long ass time

Shame because I really miss listening to live music. As an example of restrictions instated seemingly for “show” would be how the Northern Territory designating Melbourne CBD as a hotspot.. over one case and another following 2 days of zero cases. Hotspot? Seriously?

All this horror/Halloween rock always struck me as clownish.

Holy shit! That’s awesome… Lucky bastard…

Sometimes I wonder how successful these guys would be if/had they gone mainstream. The raw power, energy, blood, sweat and tears they put into developing the skills required to play drums, guitar etc at this level is astounding. Some of these guys are prodigies to begin with

The guitarist from cacophony Jason Becker as a teenager

Yet Ariana Grande has a net worth of 150 million…

That poor guy… An absolute genius on guitar too. There is no justice in this world \m/

Yea Flo was super cool. Very friendly. Actually got a Pat O’Brien pick at that show, too

How successful is a person who knowingly sells out to make more money? IMO, the bands who make a living (being big enough to not work, and likely retire after) doing what they want as far as writing and touring are more successful because they are doing what they want and succeeding at it.

If one can’t make it doing what they want, and selling out can get them the money, then I say go for it.

Downloaded Cinderella’s greatest hits to my phone the other day while I was doing computer work. It really is amazing how much I still love my cheesy 80’s hair metal -lol.

Successful = $$$$$

Selling out = $$$$$

Who cares about morals or self dignity when I have my own private jet (kidding).

Sebastian bach is a pretty funny dude at least on trailer park boys which everyone should give a shot watching. It took me a bit to get into the show, but it is now one of my favorites.

Some truth to it despite you kidding. Hopefully more people will get into less produced music. Then the market will dictate that selling it isn’t a good idea.

Lol - my first few concerts were some arrangement (opening acts vs main acts) of Aerosmith, warrant, poison and skid row. I can’t remember what the set up was.

I do however remember tearing out of my high school’s student parking lot in my ‘84 Pontiac sunbird with “Youth Gone Wild” turned up so loud my speakers were vibrating.

I’ve tried to get into trailer park boys a few times. Even skipped ahead to one of the movies. It’s amusing, but not quite my cup of tea. I’d definitely give it a watch casually if I was hanging around with some mates and one of them decided to put it on.

Recently got into How I met your mother, binge watched all of it in like eight weeks!

This is awesome

I did exactly this the second I graduated, but with this blaring

At the risk of sounding like an edgelord… I really didn’t like school

actually the film within the poster (dazed and confused) is one of my favourite movies. Follows a bunch of irresponsible kids going about their days on the last day of school (entering into summer holidays). Nothing happens, no one does anything eventful; it’s just kids living.
