I came here to get info about excercises that could help me lose some fat, and the reason for losing that fat is not my climbing, the reason is just to be leaner and to look better in the mirror.
I’m asking info here, because what I read here had a big impact on how I train; also, I’m looking for excercises that will make me lose that little bit of fat that I put up over the winter (as I said 1 mm on two folds), but I don’t want to put on muscle mass, neither I want to lose weight other than the little of that fat. Maybe I’m looking for the Holy Grail, I don’t know, but why not trying asking?
Thanks for the replies, have a nice day. It’s sunny here, and after a few months, I’m going climbing! :-)[/quote]
Without correcting diet, no exercise will magically help you lose fat. With a better diet, add in some HIIT and the fat will drop rather quickly.
Cheers again.
Yesterday I tried finishers for the first time, after getting back home from climbing. I was quite tired, had a very light snack then trained.
I chose Spider Crawls and the Squat Curl Press of the finishers’ article.
I did both with a 6kg weightvest, 2 minutes of each then 1 minute of each.
A total of 6 minutes that left completely and utterly smashed, both physically and mentally. I thought the Spider Crawl was going to be a breeze… “It’s just two minutes!” Hell I was wrong! Two minutes seemed to last an eternity…
A good piece of humble pie!
Felt very good afterwards.
So, what do you think? Are the times right? Would you do something else?
@ Ecchastang: you’re a climber yourself, what do you think?

Looks fine. Keep your intensity high, and your duration low. Total work time under 10 minutes.
Cheers for the reply!
No problem staying under 10 minutes! Just 6 left me broken!
Hi again, some updates.
Managed to put in a few finishers’ sessions after climbing on my board, and with watching my diet more - nothing special, just cutting crap food, bar lunches, and the likes - results started coming.
I basically lost what I wanted in a matter of days, really. It was amazing. All my folds went back to the values of before, except one, right below the belly button, where I still had .5 mm to lose.
Strength was good also, strong sessions on the board and one good day sportclimbing on rock! Little volume but good results, except shredded skin…
That was up to ten days ago.
Then one day while walking to work, I tripped on a moving cobblestone in the city center, and to avoid a fall I made something that I really felt in my lower back (I was carrying a heavy briefcase full of documents in my right hand).
My lower back seized and is giving me hell, since. I have some postural problems due to heavy imbalances in my muscles, so that aggravated it also…
Barely able to roll out of bed in the morning, sitting at my desk is a nightmare of changing position every 5 mins…
Got massages but still could not see my ostheopath due to too much work.
Could not train at all… Then when I was feeling better, I did some training and injured my right elbow… It’s something articular luckily, but still a pain… Of course these imbalances need sorting out…
Hopefully it’s getting better now and I hope to be able to try and do something today.
Anyway, so far so good, to be honest. It’s good to know that you have this powerful tool for fat loss. I wish I had this knowledge of training many years ago. I would have avoided injuries and would have had better results. Oh well…
As soon as I get a decent pic of current form I’ll post it as a reference also for future progress.
Cheers.
Back again, clearly showing all my lower back and pelvis imbalances and dis-alignment. Seeing my ostheopath on Friday…
