I always find it funny when people do this.

If you wanna put some letters after your name THAT badly, get the good ones.

Yup, that was a hasty quote, my edited post is clearer I believe
Oh, I don’t even remember what the quote was… I just think that if you REALLLY want to flaunt your academic credentials, you don’t stop your education at a Master’s.

So you think some Dr just randomly made up this stuff? And no one in the medical field has disputed this rating system? And you’re going to ‘look into it’? YOU?!! haha, ok, you get right on that, the medical world is waiting in anticipation for your results.

A non-doctor made it up.
Doctors are not the ones doing most of the research anymore. Doctors are the ones who listen to your symptoms and tell you what expensive drug to take for that.

LOL… So Charles Poliquin now has his own test to evaluate heart disease risk? Not to completely disregard his opinion, because it does make some sense, but does he ever publish any of his miracle solutions in peer reviewed scientific or medical journals?

My guess is no because a lot of what he spouts seems to derive from anecdotal evidence…
I only posted it cuz it told me what I believe is best info, but didn’t’ know about taurine

Poliquin has some good bi’s. Was it me or was he getting out of breath in that vid? Should get his cholesterol checked.

Physicians employed at academic institutions all do research. It is required in many instances. Almost all residents who plan on doing a fellowship conduct research. The H Index for published research is becoming more and more important currently.

Most doctors do their best to prescribe medications that their patients can afford. Otherwise it adversely affects their clinical outcomes. Many times there is not a generic for what a patient may need. This is not the fault of the doctor.

my point was that GPs don’t usually try to get to the cause of a problem. they merely tell you what drug to take based on symptoms. source of frustration many times in my life.
Many more kinds of people other than doctors are involved in research these days. I apologize for derailing things a bit.

As if telling patients to diet, exercise and not smoke makes much of a difference.

You’re right…people resist change. If a magic pill will let them carry on with their lives as usual, they will do that instead. Path of least resistance. They should at least try though.
One frustration I had is that I didn’t know I was wheat intolerant. Not knowing this, the doctor gave me one prescription for acid reflux, another for my allergies (which had a possible side effect of DEATH), and a third for my gastric problems. I was taking all these medications I didn’t need. He never even minutely try to figure out why I was having all those problems. Doctors here try to maximize how many patients they see a day to maximize profits - no time to figure out causes, just give prescriptions and make lots of $$$. Lucky for me, nutritionists do try to find the cause of a problem rather than treat the symptoms.
