He was competing in OL but I am sure he fell out with the Russians…was going to lift for Belarus, then the whole was blocked by Russia…
He competes regularly in the Strongman stuff! Always comes across as a top bloke!

I have been following this guys stuff on and off for a year or so now…
thing is, he has the numbers to be world class OL and a PL, though he does not even train specifically for either one.
some men are not created equal, sigh…[/quote]
I know Heavy I feel your pain.
What is this guys height and weight? Just curious. Why is he not doing more Strongman, he has the size and strength and athletic ability it seems to me to be a real competitor in the strongman.
from wikipedia: 6’4" 350lbs.
I also love his showmanship/sportsmanship. Great sense of humor.
Misha won the Russian weightlifiting championships something like 6 times. The reason he has never made it to the Olympics is because the better atlethes were out of the country at the time (This is from his own mouth, I believe he said it during the exhibition that heavy posted). It is his dream to compete in the Olympics and that is probably why he has never adopted Strongman or Powerlifting specific training.
I believe he held the highest 100% RAW total in the world for a time, which is pretty astounding since he does not train bench.
He has performed at the highland games and set a record in the weight for height event.
He is a hugely successful strongman (he came third in WSM last year, and I believe he should have won the Arnold one time if not for one shody judging call giving Phil Pfister a rep on the Circ Dumbell and knocking him back a place). Again, this is all despite literally doing almost no event training (there was a quote from him along the lines of “What do you do to train the strongman events?” - “I had stone but it broke”).
So yeah, he is by far the most fun and entertaining of all the strongman as well as being of the most talented strength athletes of all time.
NOTE: I have double-checked exactly none of this so I promise only that it is qualitatively correct.

He does strongman training and there is a video on youtube where he is training somewhere in Russia.
He’s a funny dude too:
I also believe there were some politics involved in him NOT getting picked for the Olympics, that and Chigishev had slightly better lift but not by much.
Wiki has his best lifts as:
Snatch - 210kg
C+J - 250kg
Not sure if they were in a comp or general PBs though - heres a mighty deadlift though:

While there may have been some politics involved there, I think Chigishev was the better choice. While Misha has snatched 210 (8 years ago) and clean and jerked 250 (6 years ago), between the 2 weightlifting meets he’s done in the last year his bests are a 200 snatch and a 241 clean and jerk, whereas Chigishev lifted 210/250 in Beijing.
If there was a competition that combined oly lifting with raw powerlifting than he would be the world champ. Definately one of the strongest human beings of all time.

I agree, however I feel that if he hadn’t had issues with the Russian weightlifting federation his numbers would have been better by now. It must be disappointing to know you have the potential to be a gold medalist yet you cant even make it into the Russian team for any sort of competition, not even the smaller ones. I guess that’s why he moved onto strongman, although it seems like he wants to start training specifically for weightlifting now and rumor has it he might lift for another country. I hope he does, he deserves to be competitive in the sport.
The best part is that he did half those lifts with a popped collar.
Come at me broski.
